#Traffic Alert: A leak on a water main has forced us to close Mesa Ave. from the roundabout at Lake Circle to El Pomar Road along the west side of the Broadmoor. The road will be closed through Tuesday morning. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes.

Multiple wildfires have started across Colorado in the last 24 hours, fuels remain critically dry, temperatures are climbing, and firefighting resources across the state are already being stretched. The burn ban prohibits: 🔥 Wood, pellet, and charcoal fires (including grills, smokers, and fire pits) 🔥 Campfires and recreational fires 🔥 Outdoor smoking in City parks and open spaces 🔥 Other activities capable of producing sparks as outlined in the burn ban order Fireworks have always been illegal in Colorado Springs. This burn ban does not change that. If you're considering using fireworks this week, don't. Our firefighters need to be available for true emergencies—not preventable fires. We will continue to monitor weather and fire conditions throughout the week. Hot temperatures, low humidity, and strong winds mean any spark can become a fast-moving wildfire. Today we need your help. 🔥 Don't use anything that creates sparks. 🚫 No recreational fires. 🚬 Dispose of smoking materials properly. 🚗 Don't park on dry grass. 🔧 Avoid activities that could throw sparks. 📞 If you see smoke or fire, report it immediately. Normally we'd throw in a clever joke here... but today isn't really a joke. One careless decision can put lives, homes, firefighters, and entire communities at risk. 🚧 Traffic notice: Starting today Southbound 8th St. is down to one lane between Costilla St. and Moreno Ave. due to water main repairs. Westbound Moreno Ave. is closed at 8th St. As construction begins Monday morning, water may be visible in the gutters.

UPDATE May 17: Water was restored late last night and the roads are all opened. Thank you to our crews for repairing the leaks and to our customers for your patience during this time!

UPDATE: Our crew has found another leak and had to shut off water service to make repairs. We estimate water to be restored to customers by 3 am. We anticipate opening up South Murray Blvd, Airport Rd and Shelley Ave at 8 am once cleanup is done. Thank you again for your patience
