Any U.S. shojo manga fan can tell that Shojo Beat has been releasing fewer series recently. So I decided to crunch some numbers. Assuming no planned releases get pushed back, by the end of the year SB will have released 42 volumes of manga, going by Right Stuf's website.

@SomeZeeShit__ I'm in Bay Ridge. Getting to Bushwick involves either going into Manhattan first or 3 trains. Going anywhere in Brooklyn on the J/M or L trains is not worth it lol.

@A_Sarr Exactly, I'm a native New Yorker who hasn't been impressed with any of the Mexican places I've tried in Manhattan, and that's because I first tried Mexican food in Sunset Park and it's the standard for me. Would love to try more places in Corona.

@lisavsworld There are men who legitimately believe that women who travel a lot are having every single one of their trips funded by a man they're sleeping with. They can't fathom that there are solo female travelers paying for their own trips who are simply traveling for leisure & culture.

@dieworkwear I'm a native New Yorker and I don't pay retail for any clothes/bags/shoes. I always wait for sales & stack coupons: plus, we have stores that discount designer goods like Century 21. Also, thrift stores! I once saw a pair of Gucci wedges for $40 at a thrift store.

i usually bring up on the first date that i never ever wanna have kids and people are like "you don't even know yet if you like him!" but the point is i do not wanna get to like him if he wants to have kids

People think I’m doing too much when I tell them that if you’re certain you want kids and your partner doesn’t, you have a decision to make and you should probably make it sooner rather than later. Yes, people’s minds can change over time, but that’s a big gamble.

@offbeatorbit I put that I don't want kids on my dating app profile & my therapist suggested removing it bc that's not info everyone needs to know. I disagree: in a serious relationship, having kids is something you absolutely can't compromise on, so you should be on the same page ASAP.

And honestly I’m surprised by how long some younger couples (like say 20s) wait to have frank conversations about this. I think there’s this impression among women who want kids that asking about that early makes you look baby hungry but man who gives a shit? It’s YOUR time.

@maomao09diaries If you include reading manga, I've watched/read 21 of these series. Two of the most foundational romances (Hana Yori Dango and Kare Kano) sadly aren't on here. Also, a huge seinen romance: Maison Ikkoku.

This is not even new work of Ai Yazawa ??! Tenshi Nanka Ja Nai was serialized in Ribon from 1991-1994. Tenshi was made long before Nana even came out. Which is why it says from Viz if you could read “A decade before Nana” This is english version of the manga. 💀 shut up omfg 😭
