Dala ng NBI agent sa isang hotel sa Makati ang duffle bag na may laman umanong pera para ibigay kay Mabanta pero hindi niya ito tinanggap at sinabing dalhin na lang ito sa isang country club sa Pasig at iabot sa dalawang lalaking naka-face mask. Pagdating sa country club, inabot ng mga NBI undercover agents ang tatlong maleta at isang duffel bag sa mga lalaking naka face mask. Laman ng maleta at bag ang P75 million na kinikikil umano kay Romualdez. Pinasok ng dalawang naka face mask ang mga maleta at bag sa country club at idineretso sa isang kuwarto kung nasaan si Mabanta. Pagkakuha ng hudyat, pinasok ng NBI ang function room na inupahan ng mga suspek at inaresto si Mabanta.
