Me: I'm a math teacher. Them: Oh, I hated math in school. Also, what's with this new way of teaching math? Why don't they just teach it the way we were taught? Me:

This video from @gfletchy explains multiplication from 2nd to 5th grades and applies to middle and high school teachers too (think: distributive property, polynomial multiplication, etc.). gfletchy.com/2015/12/18/the… #MTBoS

@howie_hua I love relating the idea of solving equations to this representation! Students solve problems like this in early elementary school using part-part-whole models. This could help student relate this new idea to something that they already know.

Do schools still use TI-84 Plus calculators? We have a bunch sitting around collecting dust that we'd sell. Good condition.

I once heard the term “nice nasty” to describe a person who smiles and says all the right words, but doesn’t align their actions to demonstrate care. Care is in the hardest moments made easier. Care is in the spaces where people need a gentle push in the right direction. Care is an experience of doing best for others. We all want to be cared for by our leaders. How will you demonstrate care today?
