Crosswind limitations have lead to the cancellations of some flights to Alderney today. Also, G-OATR appears to have encountered an issue in Manchester and so the Dornier is being used to fly support in. The return flight has been delayed. #aviation #travel #guernsey #aurigny

What does this say about the current wealth of Western countries/institutions that tiny $ cuts to culturally significant matters are being made? This is Canada, blessed with huge natural resources.. Why is Guernsey, with its deficit, increasing Overseas Aid funding in 2026?

@BBCGuernsey No way, Jersey would want to be in control. They didn't want Aurigny to take over Blueisland which would have resulted in a Channel Island airline.

@ci_aviation Unpressurised aircraft last lot longer than pressurised airplanes. Less strain on the fuselage. Look at Buffalo still flying WW2 C46 and C47 on a daily basis. I can vouch that they fly just fine.

Just a note, most of this aircraft will not be original parts from when it was manufactured and it will have undergone extensive maintenance and work. To compare Skybus’ Twin Otter fleet has an average age of nearly 46 years and has been operating reliably for a number of years.

Aurigny’s “new” Twin Otter has began the first stages of its delivery flight to the UK. The 54 year old aircraft, planned to be registered G-NETS, had been in storage in Canada for the last 3 years. #aviation #travel #guernsey #aurigny #alderney

Likely for similar reasons today, Aurigny have been using the Dornier on the Guernsey - Southampton flight. However due to the smaller capacity, 3 flight will operate each way as GR654/655, GR656/657 and GR658/659. Titan is also operating some Gatwick flights. #guernsey #aviation

Aurigny will be using Titan to operate its GR608/609 LGW services today due to operational reasons (likely crew related). However the flights will operate in the reverse order meaning the GR608 flight will be significantly delayed. E190 G-POWX will operate the services. #aurigny
