The children need books, paper, and writing. Give them copywork. Give them actual reading. You can't even comprehend how far ahead they'll be of their Chromebook e-book multiple choice quiz peers and it's heartbreaking.

This is one of the best ways schools can support a student’s mental health: TEACH THEM WELL. Competence, and the confidence it brings, is addictive, reassuring, and the foundation of a secure sense of wellbeing. ‘I can do this. I understand things’ is a profoundly human way to flourish.
Daniel Willingham@DTWillingham

When students are anxious/depressed, one method of remediation might be TEACHING THEM TO DO SCHOOL BETTER. Just got this message from a mental health professional.

Probably the dumbest trend in math education right now is “students don’t need to know math facts” That the so-called “experts” hawk this theory is an embarrassment to the profession

If you have a full-time job... if you own a home... if you are a dual income household... congratulations! Democrats think you're "rich"! And now they're trying to create a new tax on your net WORTH, not just your income so they can waste MORE of your hard-earned money.
MN House GOP Rapid Response@MNHRCWarRoom

House Democrats are trying to raise taxes again - this time by taxing unrealized gains and imposing an annual tax on Minnesotans’ net worth, not just their income.

New from yours truly for @educationgadfly tips to school boards for hiring district superintendents: Hire to solve specific problems, not simply to “lead.” To prevent initiative churn, ask, "What did you say 'no' to in your last district?" fordhaminstitute.org/national/comme…

Millions are spent just to keep the lights on, a reality many don't grasp. It's like a household going into debt for basic needs. An adult conversation on spending should focus on a plan to prevent future crises.

On my 89th lap around the sun, here’s what I know: Everyone wants to fix America— but almost no one wants to fix themselves. Stop waiting for a handout. Be the agent of your own uplift. (Food for thought from an old guy that might know a thing or two;)

RSU 24 Officially Passes Title IX Policy 🔥 (Important Read) 4/7/26 Meeting The board previously passed a resolution to recognize biological sex - male students will not change or compete with female students. The next step was enacting policy. Democrats were furious - the Woke Maine Human Rights Commission decided to intervene and threaten lawsuits. District after district held the line with Title 9. RSU 24 booted Drummond Woodsum(law firm) and hired a new lawyer. @grahamformaine personally got involved - going on podcasts spewing lies about RSU 24 board members, and angered that his home district opposed his position on child transitioning & the left's 'gender ideology'. Last night the board held firm adopting Title IX and moved to end the lunacy. Gen Z sees the world falling apart and they’ve realized there has to be more. Something greater. We are experiencing the cultural pendulum swing back now from the sexual revolution of the 1960s. A movement that has led us to the absurdity of not knowing what a woman is and people celebrating sexual perversion in the streets in front of children. The pendulum went as far as it can go, and now it is swinging back in the other direction mentally, spiritually, and physically. Gen Z is 100% aware of the dangers of the world as the first generation to grow up with full access to the internet. The destruction, death, and evil that persist. As a generation, they are desiring something greater. Right now, the Christian faith, the hope that comes from the Gospel, and the truth is what's available as that answer. Our prayer should be that God uses this pivotal time for this generation. That He uses this time to capture the hearts and minds of this generation with the Gospel, the truth from a biblical worldview, authentic repentance, and a turning away from sin and a turning towards Christ and the cross by the power of the Holy Spirit. That this desire for truth and spirituality will not create cultural Christians, but biblical ones. That the true Body of Christ would stand up and disciple them in the Lord, not continue to play church. Every true Christian should be believing God for this and praying as we draw closer to the return of Christ in these end times.

I love Minnesota, it's beautiful and I don't want to leave. My family is here, my memories are here. I was driving into town this evening as the sun was setting over the cathedral - a stunning image. If you look beyond the trash that covers the ground, the peeling paint and rust on the bridges, the graffiti, the homeless, the vacant buildings, the grass and weeds that haven't been cut in ages and the general decline caused by poor management and budgeting - you can still see the beauty of this state. It's there, it can come back, but I don't know if it will in my lifetime. I think I just have to accept Minnesota as it is. There are too many liberal/progressives/people who vote blue no matter who in this state. And they don't seem to mind the decline. The Republicans don't have what's necessary to turn this thing around. A fed up Democrat is probably our only hope.

Teaching Nuanced American History: Prohuman Foundation advisor Adam Seagrave joins Mitch Siegler on THINC Deeply to discuss the necessity of using primary sources in civics instruction to move students beyond reductive identity categories toward an appreciation of individual human complexity. He argues that this approach restores the American ideal of inherent dignity, allowing a fractured citizenry to rediscover a unified national story. SEAGRAVE: “I think that primary sources are crucial for this as well... I think we need instructional materials that are better reflective of the complexity of historical events and peoples around the world... [to avoid] the knee-jerk reaction of viewing someone through the lens of a particular identity or category.” Watch: THINC Deeply with Mitch Siegler and Adam Seagrave youtu.be/ElecYC6p6mY?si… via @YouTube

Record spending, record low test scores; record high graduation rates 💔 The lack if oversight in MN is staggering at it starts at the local level. 300+ districts have school board races this year - who will run to insist on accountability? minnesotaparents.org/run-for-school…

We are delighted to announce that Minnesota graduation rates once again broke a record for the highest percentage of students graduating – 84.9 percent of our seniors in the class of 2025 graduated in four years.
