"We also wanted to expose what we see as the problematic, conceptual disaggregation between “disease” and “people” in the debate over CRISPR. We argue that one cannot separate the two since having a genetic disease is a key part of one’s identity and of one’s lived experience."

This is a profound and timely dilemma that we as a genetics community need to be having more conversations about. How do we define "disease"? And what are the implications of that? What is our responsibility wrt shaping policy?
