@holland_tom and @dcsandbrook on @TheRestHistory discussing the road to war brought extra pathos to preparing talk on UK @Scouts on Home Front 1939-1945. Had to mention their European peers who escaped to Spain and set up a Rover Scout Crew in the internment camp, Camp Miranda.

@MaddyPelling @HistoryHit Can’t remember Roland’s surname (that’s who I played - joy of being 5 11” at a girls school) but Emmett was a Syddal, they owned one of surviving the plague cottages. I was recover from glandular fever whilst doing play so would have been more convincing Eyam resident.

Listening to @HistoryHit After Dark episodes on Eyam. @MaddyPelling talking about doing the story as a school play, we did this too ‘The roses of Eyam’. I was one of the star crossed lovers Roland (from Stony Middleton) and Emmett as featured in the church window (bottom right).

Had a great chat with @WillForster, who gets his Christmas tree from his local Woking scouts every year! It was wonderful discussing the vital role scouts play in his community and exploring ways we can work to boost volunteer recruitment and help reduce waiting lists.

Delighted @DwayneFields is our new Chief Scout. He’s been a Scout Ambassador since 2017 and came to the opening of the heritage service’s Gilwell100 @EFDMuseum back in 2019 where he gifted his scarf to the niece of William de Bois Maclaren (who bought Gilwell for the Scouts).

@floschechter It can be an emotional process, talking about issues faced (for me particularly childhood issues) can be triggering but emotional regulation is part of ADHD so very understandable. Also worth looking into any comorbidities you may also present with (for me EDS, RSD and APD).

@GGNorfolkARC 1940s camp @GressenhallFW runs this week, so pleased the @scouts Heritage team could loan our exhibition Growing Up Digging Deep: the story of Scouts, Food and Farming to complement it. Hopefully lots of visitors inc. @norfolkscouts are able to get along and see it.

@vickybarlo I’d definitely think about audiences. Large number of children/babies a course with a paediatrics element is probably a good idea as some elements are different. Got water on site, make sure changes to CPR for drowning are covered. Also use of a AED if available nearby.

#InternationalCatDay from 1991-1997 the Cub @Scouts Pet Lover badge featured a gold cat. The design was changed to a (whisper) D-O-G after the badge was sponsored by @TheKennelClubUK. In 2002 changed to a hands hugging a rabbit and today features a paw print in a heart.
