- Self-doubt + job insecurity = biggest predictors of poor mental health
- Bad supervision significantly worsens well-being
- Part-time work while doing PhD = burnout risk
The PhD mental health crisis isn't about weak students.
It's about systemic problems: exploitative labor conditions, poor supervision, job insecurity, and institutional neglect.
If you're struggling with your PhD, it's not your fault. These are predictable responses to broken systems.

A one-time gene therapy can markedly slow the progression of Huntington’s disease, potentially paving the way for the first ever treatment to alter the course of this rare, inherited brain disorder.

It took me a day to process it: uniQure’s gene therapy for Huntington’s AMT-130 slowed disease progression by ~75% over 3 years.
So happy for patients and proud to have made a small contribution. A real step toward changing lives for so many families.
