1. Even in times of war, solar and alternative power are not invulnerable to price fluctuations. Oil is also more durable in times of war due to through diversified supply, strategic reserves, futures markets, and rapid scaling from non-OPEC producers. Fossil infrastructure allows quick ramp-up, intermittent renewables cannot "fill the gap" during a squeeze because they don't produce on demand.
2. Supplies running low? 90% of reserves in places like Saudi Arabia remain untapped. That is with 9 million Saudi barrels produced per day.
English

@CWBabich @EVCurveFuturist Until someone starts a war in the area and the supply get squeezed, causing world prices to fluctuate wildly. Until supplies eventually start running low. Invest money in alternative infrastructure. Nuclear, Solar, wind, tidal, geothermal - all can feed into the grid.

China just switched on the world’s largest offshore #solar farm.
1 GW off the coast of Shandong
~1.78 TWh/year
Enough for ~2.6–2.7M people
Built 8 km offshore, covering ~1,200 hectares of sea.
Land was never the limit. Now the ocean is the grid. #Bettrification ⚡🔋

@BrandonStraka The UN loves China so much that maybe they can fund their nonsense

I don’t know what’s worse about this comment section, the swarm of bots or the fact that a chunk of those brain-rotted comments are from actual people who might be raising kids and get to vote

Most Conservatives don’t even know why they don’t like Mark Carney except that he plays for the team that Trudeau played for and therefore he sucks
English

@ItsSamG You don't know why you don't like Poilievre, other than Conservative bad, and 😱Trump😱
English

I told ya...Progressive Conservatives are just Liberals under a different name. #ReformConservatives

Doug Ford praises Mark Carney and appeals for a majority government ahead of byelections. The PM will secure a majority government if his Liberals win two of the three byelections, @robertbenzie reports thestar.com/politics/provi… Find out more at nationalnewswatch.com

@jillyonthehilly A liberal journalist rightly calls out liberal stances on China, and liberals attack her in the comments...seems about right.

The PM won't say if China's persecution of Uyghurs is a genocide, which parliament recognized in 2021
This comes after Liberal MP Ma downplayed China's use of forced labour
Days after Ma's apology, Carney praised him at a fundraiser in video obtained by Global News

@oscarswillis "Ok, but what did you do to prepare for Derek Chisora this Saturday"
English

@tomselliott Sad thing about this, it doesn't seem like an April Fools joke.

@stevenmackinnon @Jenn_Teachasd24 .@PierrePoilievre is more interested in ripping up any Justin Trudeau legacy than actual delivering for Canadians.
English

Pierre Poilievre, once again, is showing Canadians that he has no vision to create jobs and grow the economy.
For decades, Canadians have advocated for a modern, fast, inter-city rail network. Alto is a generational investment that will transform travel and connect communities. It will boost GDP by $35 billion annually, create over 51,000 well-paying jobs, and help Canadians work, study, and travel more efficiently.
Pierre Poilievre is turning his back on Canadians from Quebec City to Toronto and the communities in between. Investing in High-Speed Rail means building a more connected, competitive Canada, and proves Canada can get big things done.
The Conservatives, as usual, think small. Turning away from nation-building investments is the wrong choice, and one Canadians reject at a time when we need to build and grow.
English

@stevenmackinnon If high-speed rail is so important to you guys, why haven't you done any projects in 10+ years?
English

@Skylar13_1989 @l_stone So, you're telling indigenous people to shut up...got it.

NEW: Chiefs of Grassy Narrows and Wabaseemoong say they are demanding an apology from Prime Minister Mark Carney for joking “I can outlast her” at yesterday’s presser in response to a Grassy Narrows woman with mercury poisoning, “a condition that causes premature death.” #cdnpoli
