“We need her to rim run, pick and pop, and finish inside with her back to the basket,” Fernandez said of Li. “She’s been a pleasure to coach. Unrivaled helped her conditioning, footwork, and rebounding outside her area.”

Early in training camp, a "strong 10" projected rotation is forming for the Dallas Wings. Among the names mentioned was Odyssey Sims, who signed as the 22nd and final player added to the roster. Read more on @DALHoopsJournal: dallashoopsjournal.com/p/dallas-wings…

Paige Bueckers is up to 20 points in the first half. Li Yueru found her on a cut. She faked baseline on the catch to setup a jumper going middle.

Solid play from the Wings out of Horns to create space on a quick post touch for Li Yueru. She capitalized and drew a foul but missed the free throw.

Love seeing Li Yueru crash that board out of nowhere—her aggressiveness has clearly improved under Jose Fernandez.

Remember the last time Li Yueru played on the floor of @GainbridgeFH for the @DallasWings? 20 points, 4 boards and 2 steals. Yueru is crushing it so far, 4 early points. Wings down only by five (18-13, Fever lead, 2:43 left in Q1. #WNBA x @ThePodiumFinish

The Perth Lynx duo both have a real shot at WNBA All-Defensive Team this year — Anneli Maley (WNBL rebounding leader) + Han Xu (WNBL Defensive Player of the Year) 🥳 Coach Chris DeMarco watched most of their games overseas, so you know the trust is already there. Wouldn’t be surprised if they’re in the mix for Most Improved Player and Sixth Player of the Year too.

Li Yueru is likely starting tomorrow—great chance to show what fans and coaches want: strong finishes at the rim and aggressive rebounding. That’s her natural game, before she was asked to stretch the floor last season. She needs to bring more edge—crash the boards, don’t just box out. Go play like a dog (guess that’s why she brought her dog to media day) 😉 Finishing through contact for more and-1s will also be key. There’s a lot she can learn from Jess offensively and Lan defensively. This could be her breakout year—or at least a big step forward. Excited for the season.

NCAA programs should take a serious look at Ran Kejia. She has the potential to become a core piece of China’s national team alongside Zhang Ziyu, Han Xu, Li Yueru, and Deng Yuting heading into the LA Olympics and beyond.
