🔁 *Within* the civil war conflict zone, local conflicts are almost absent due to the massive disruption of everyday life and rebel governance. Importantly, these developments feed back into the civil war by overall strengthening the insurgents. 4/5

@nengakd @sebvanbaalen @UCDP @CSS_ETHZurich Well, this depends on how you define it. I'm aware that the notion of civil war is understood differently in Nigeria. We follow UCDP, and according to them, the Boko Haram conflict is a high-intensity intra-state conflict btw the gov and non-state groups over government control.
