@nikngn @Topps @CardPurchaser No. But business have always existed around the hobby. We need them. The difference is these do not care about the hobby. Just getting as big as they can and involving themselves in as much as they can. Far different from a LCS.

Agree 100%. This is unregulated gambling at this point and no one is trying to hide it. I think a potential issue they have is states that don’t allow online gambling or lottery like Utah or Hawaii. You can’t tell me that a repack break with no checklist and no value parameters is not an online lottery I think those state legislature is getting involved would make Rubin start to worry a bit about potential regulation

IMO, @michaelrubin and @Fanatics growth strategy was predicated on "gambling"; specifically, attracting consumers that bet, gamble, and engage in fantasy sports. Unfortunately, that audience is toxic, and rampant with crime spanning assault, fraud, and murder. Given the state of the hobby, Fanatics will continue to condone unscalable growth strategies with its partners (ex. B/Y/B, Filthbomb, etc.). Furthermore, Fanatics will do so at all costs (ex. No ramifications for bad behavior, ex. Filthbomb & Casey). Why? Fanatics over paid for to acquire its sports and trading card licenses. So, they have to growth that's 5-7x that, or else Rubin/Fanatics will be stuck. Stuck specifically in two states, either: 1. Fanatics raises privately (ie. cover losses and buy PSA, or a group of start-ups, ex. ALT, Rally, etc.), or 2. they IPO. Either way, the collector/consumer gets fucked.

@CardsMax A lot of people who make a lot of money in the hobby don’t want people to realize why they’re making money. Status quo is awesome for people making out. The other 90% aren’t benefitting.

eBay isn’t the only option for cards. Spaces exist for safe low fee transactions. Previously Ryan’s was that space. But since its takeover by Filthbomb most went to Buckets. It’s $12/month and if you join via my link I’ll cover half your first month. whop.com/bucketcardzllc…

Someone mentioned that might be “sneak em all in”. Not the most intelligible clip. Here’s a bit more. Conversation focused on if the Marlins ever hit.

Filthbomb maintains that Heaters is a separate entity, but in the clip you can hear the breaker say “sometimes I like to sneak a Marlin in”…suggesting he is involved in the repacking. It becomes especially problematic when employees are joining the breaks.

@jnewszn @CLE_KingOfGames Fair point. Not exactly the most intelligible. Here’s a bit more. If anyone is interested in the whole break I can send it over somehow.

@CLE_KingOfGames I’m not a FB supporter. Don’t like them, but he clearly doesn’t say “a Marlin”. He says “em all in”. You would need the full video to see what he was referring to.

Without that information I would assume any break was tainted and request a chargeback on my credit card.
