Day 2 of Michigan Urology Academy! Great advice on research from previous alumni!

Dr. J.P. Wilson taught me this in 1998 as I began my general surgery residency… I still sit or kneel at the bedside when I round. It takes me longer to get up, but allowing them to look low into my eyes as we speak is important for both me and them. Glad to see the data.

Most patients don't realize their doctors and nurses think about them in the spaces between visits. While driving home, getting ready for bed, while falling asleep. Our work is a part of us, and we care about you. That's all.

Hill Day at #AUASummit26 was a powerful reminder that urology is a complete field. Being in that room was a reminder of what leadership looks like, and how much impact urology can have beyond the OR. Inspired to keep showing up, learning, and following their footsteps.

“Urology shouldn’t depend on your ZIP code.” In a powerful session at #AUASummit26, Jerome Wilson showed how both urban and rural communities face the same access crisis, one shaped by systems, distance, and delay. From Chicago’s West Side to Pulaski, IL, he illustrated how miles turn into missed diagnoses, and how families like his own pay the price. His call to action: digital‑first triage, team‑based care, telehealth access, workforce incentives, and infrastructure investment to close the gap for good.
