I am becoming progressively more worried for our humanity due to extensively terrifying improvements to AI generated content media. From blatant misinformation to even the recent commercial adaptations of AI (acquisition of Suno into the music industry) WHICH NOBODY NEEDS. We need artists to thrive - not feel discouraged. Please be weary with what you see or hear online, contemporary media feels like nothing is real anymore. AI sucks and we need to stand up against it.

We are starting to test ads in ChatGPT free and Go (new $8/month option) tiers. Here are our principles. Most importantly, we will not accept money to influence the answer ChatGPT gives you, and we keep your conversations private from advertisers. It is clear to us that a lot of people want to use a lot of AI and don't want to pay, so we are are hopeful a business model like this can work. (An example of ads I like are on Instagram, where I've found stuff I like that I otherwise never would have. We will try to make ads ever more useful to users.)

@jacalulu @GeminiApp I will never use a chatbot like Gemini for tasks like these. Labels on Gmail and saved places on Google Maps make it easy to reference and look up relevant logistical info like this almost instantaneously. Plus I find it helpful for my memory to see a map visually.

I'm headed to Boston next week and I wasn't sure how to plan my morning. I just asked @GeminiApp app how long it will take me to walk from my hotel to where I need to be on Tuesday. It was able to: - find the email with my hotel details - find the email about where I need to be in the morning - use Maps to calculate how far of a walk AND it reminded me what time I needed to be at the meeting place that day. 🤯 Life logistics just got so much easier!

We're feeding AI our best work for free, and nobody is talking about what happens next. AI will scrape every blog and social media post you publish. AI will scrape every single open-source code you share. AI will scrape every tutorial you record. And then, they will sell this info back to you in the form of tokens and soon, ads. The economics of the future of content creation are broken. If we don't fix this, we will regret it.
