Not that they’re obliged to show up, but they could at least shut the f up about films they’ve never seen. At Long Last Love was briefly shown in Italian theaters in 1975/76—badly cut, with all the songs dubbed—and never resurfaced until I made it happen. I said it.

I’ve always had a beef with Italian film critics, suspecting they follow whatever hype is trendiest rather than truly loving movies. In the past four years, I’ve hosted the only Italian screenings of At Long Last Love, and none of them ever showed up—except one last night. 1/2
