@NurseMeroune @jjkdisorder It’s only a few months turn around between the books, right? I think they’ll end on semi-cliffhangers to chop up the parts/acts, like you said. But I do think we won’t be able to even tell it’s supposed to be one book. I think it will feel like a regular trilogy.

Her interview, as annoying as it was to me, made sense for what they are trying to achieve. Splitting it up though, idk why people think that means it’s just going to end on a random chapter?

Comments off so I’ll do a quote here @jjkdisorder. Why are people acting like Alchemised is the 1st book to have parts? Having parts or acts in stories IS common. Splitting them up in a special edition to pay full price for each part is NOT common. A cash grab is a cash grab 🤷‍♀️

@ToriCarlini @jjkdisorder These are SERIES though. Designated as such from the start. Not a single book split after publication. Some older fantasy was originally sold in parts/installments & is now sold in omnibus collections. But that is still not what’s happening here. Its just a silly ole cash grab🤣

@NurseMeroune @jjkdisorder I know it is common in other countries due to translation purposes. But a book being split into parts sold separately is not common. Trilogy and quartets and such are, but those are installments already designated from the get go.

@CaityBellFics @jjkdisorder I think it’s because it’s not a very common thing in certain countries. I have personally not seen that before, but I’ve heard it happens

@xpaleveilx Oh! Another one is Mercedes Lackey. She published so much fantasy back in the day in small installments, now they are sold together, three books in one. There is also the importance of splitting up a longer book for translation purposes. My point is that for SE it’s not COMMON.

@xpaleveilx The google response you’re probably seeing is explaining older fantasy books that were originally published in shorter installments only to now be published together into one edition, like the Stormlight Archive. Not the other way around. To say this is common, is just not true.

As someone who owns multiple special editions of this book, splitting it into three and tripling the price when it’s…the same amount of pages as the OG is weird and a major reference to how fanfic binders bind Manacled. Separate from Fanfic where?

@xpaleveilx Avendell’s art does hit—like EVERY time. I don’t think there’s a bigger or better criticism here. Just criticism in general. I point out obvious cash grabs from publishers all the time, and this obviously is just that. Add in the conversation around this and fanfic, etc.

@CaityBellFics the bigger criticism of not keeping it separate from the fanfic would be using avendell as the artist honestly, but it doesn't bother me personally because their art hits
