@CitizenBego I won’t belabor either, except to suggest that all those important capacities of yours were engaged by the story, which obviously was invented by Maggie O’Farrell but was delivered very effectively, in my view at least, by the screenplay she co-wrote with Chloe Zhao. YRMV!

I don't want to belabour my point. But it felt pedestrian to me, undercooked, but also well-made, and often well-acted.

@CitizenBego I can’t speak for your reaction, but it’s hard to understand how a film could make one weep five times without the script being at least somewhat responsible.

I was weepy five times in there. But it had nothing to do with power of the script.
