As a football fan of more years than I care to remember, I’m tired of all the posts on here from Americans who never watched football before this World Cup, moaning about the offside rule and calling for rule changes all because they don’t understand the game. Bunch of bellends.

@Prominent_Bryan We get offside has its flaws too. They just need the refs to make a judgement call on if the player had an unfair advantage or not

Some soccer purists will say only American noobs want this to change but that's not true. I have watched soccer weekly all my life and I think this shouldn't be offside. It just isn't what the original intent of the law was Bring on the Wenger offside!

Out of bounds in football is crazy. I get the idea, but I think it would be better if the rule was “If any portion of the player is *in bounds*, the play should be in bounds”

@smyyguy It’s been off for the last 5-10 years. They completely leave out the part where the offensive player is supposed to have an unfair advantage. His feet and core part of his body are clearly in line or behind the last defender.

feels like a pretty dumb rule if its a penalty when the attacking player is in a more athletic position and has both feet onside

@psurtain23 Of course, they’re different sports. If you change the rules to “no offisides” it turns into a boring game, on a giant pitch, where people bang the ball to a bunch of cherry pickers. You completely take out the middle of the field and tactics that make this game work. It’s dumb
