I make jokes nobody understands according to my wife. I don't provide phone chargers, don't ask.

My one issue here is the seeding. You'd need the top 16 teams to be one group. The issue is it's very different to be drawn against France then versus Switzerland and yet both would be top seed... But with 4 games and top 6 going through, it should even out

Swiss model: 4 leagues of 12 teams. Each team plays 4 games (including one top seed vs top seed) Top 2 are qualified for the RO16 (so incentives for top teams to play until the end). 3-6 play a playoff RO32 round You get: - no across groups comparison with best 3rd or whatever - more games but not a ton more. And many of the new games after best on best at the group stage - incentives to finish high to get a bye Added bonus: - easily scalable, much easier than with the groups of 4 - you can easily make it such that one league/group is in one country

Again the solution to the "3rd placed teams going through" isn't to go all the way to 64, it's to choose a better format (Also I genuinely don't care if some 3rd placed teams to through)

@Prominent_Bryan I’m not crazy about high rises just popping up wherever, but that’s a perfect spot. Help develop the area and walking distance to skytrain.

Plenty of solutions including the so-called Swiss model used in the CL

@CdnElectWatch Can't believe China has never hosted. Back around 2008, I was sure we would go to China in the next decade

For all the supposed regional and federal divisions inside Canada’s conservative movement at present, a silver-lining is surely Harman Bhangu: World Cup Twitter troll and all-around agent of chaos. A passion that unites us all.

@alexbrown17 BC Poli is special because a sitting MLA will bully you in public and everyone will think it's normal and have a laugh.

Yeah I still think they started using this 'mistaken identity' not in line with the actual written rules. I said the same after the US game Anyway, let's change the rules so that simulation is a reviewable offense all the time, not only when the error cost a yellow to the other team

@CdnElectWatch @Prominent_Bryan Correct, apparently it can be from either team. However, it has to apply to the same offence. I would argue a mistaken yellow for a foul and diving are two different offences.

I don't understand why the Swiss players are mad at the referee instead of Embolo Yes it's incredibly unlucky what happened (like VAR literally couldn't have intervened if the ref hadn't given a yellow originally... And he almost didn't give a single yellow to the Argentinian players tonight) but at the end of the day Switzerland is out because Embolo is a dumbass and ruined the momentum and domination the Swiss team had At 11 vs 11, my country wins this game, I'm sure of it So be mad at the dumbass player who did an insane dive while already being on a yellow. Not the ref

Look at this table from Trevor Tombe Alberta represents 15% of federal revenue but receives only 10% of fed spending! So Alberta contributes 60% more than they receive! While Quebec receives 30% more than they contribute

@Prominent_Bryan To make like prototypes or models you mean? Haven't considered that. It's a way to quickly showcase something conceptually before scaling up manufacturing in a specialized plant. Like how people practice plane piloting with virtual machines before actual machines.
