Arkansas tennis fans: Based on a review of the most recent publicly available data, the elimination of Arkansas’s men’s and women’s tennis program created a Title IX financial aid disparity greater than 1%. Did anyone review the Title IX data before the AD pulled the plug? 🤔

I would say that the NCAA only listens to money, but they won’t even really be making that much more here.
The 76-team format takes eyes away from the tourney right before its most-important time—the first round.
Just another example of power schools getting whatever they want.

To add: Many of these student-athletes whose programs are being slashed carry the overall athletic department GPA. Therefore, they’re faced with the decision to either move elsewhere to study and continue developing in their sport, or be done competing collegiately.

For every $4 million quarterback that signs with a Power Four school, will there be a tennis player, a swimmer, a gymnast, someone who did everything right, losing their sport entirely? This is where the story stops being about money and starts being about something much harder to quantify. The sports that are being sacrificed on the altar of college football aren't just line items on a budget. They are the primary pipeline feeding the United States Olympic program.

Arkansas is currently paying Sam Pittman three-plus years of tennis expenses to not work.

The Arkansas men's and women's tennis programs spent a combined $2.5 million and brought in $3,284 in revenue for the 2024-25 reporting year, according to the school's NCAA Membership Financial Reporting Survey.
