Fantastic to see the WH unveiling its national framework for AI. Thousands of bills targeting AI have been introduced, many of which would create a convoluted regulatory maze for companies to navigate. If America wants to lead and WIN the AI race, we need 1 federal standard.

I will be in D.C. for Hill and Valley next week, then fly back to Atlanta to tour factories with our partners before returning to D.C. to meet with the Department of the Interior.

@RoKhanna @vkhosla @BernieSanders I would be curious to see exactly how @RoKhanna defines “regulate AI so it improves not damages humanity”. Do you have a couple example policies you would like to see included in an AI regulatory framework?

A 40 Trillion dollar national debt does not put us in a good place for a bailout….seems to be the underlying assumption not mentioned directly through the whole piece. Also not mentioned is the fact that majority of taxes are paid by the high income w2 earners that theoretically are first in line to the chopping block. A lot of stretches but the path exists.

The major flaw in this piece is the fact that it suggests the economic problem is systemic rather than sectoral but never actually proves the mechanics of this. It merely goes from describing sectoral problems (e.g. SaaS unemployment) to describing systemic problems (mortgages). It *says* we go from sectoral to systemic, but it doesn’t really tell you *how* that happens.

This is probably the most believable piece of AI scenario modeling, positive or negative, I have ever read. Plenty of contestable assumptions, of course, but undoubtedly worth your time.

Precision Ag (significantly increasing food output/while lowering input costs) should be the one that hits home first. Outside of that there are significant benefits pending across every sector that has heavy back end paperwork costs (healthcare/banking/insurance) but that might take a bit to show in the every day persons wallet.

Data centers are the early innings here, imo. When the job loss stuff boils over, the data centers will look like nothing. Giving people no agency over a thing that may upend their lives is a recipe for backlash for tech, media, government or anyone who works in them.

"It's coming whether you like it or not" is near-universally (and probably correctly) accepted within Silicon Valley, but is not something people outside the bubble are going to be easily persuaded of at all.

10/ Lastly, a word to my Christian brothers and sisters: Wilberforce didn’t whisper against slavery; he thundered. The casino preys on the poor, exploits the vulnerable & funds schools on broken backs. The Church cannot be silent or a party to this.

The Virginia Senate just passed SB756 to bring a casino to Fairfax County and anyone who calls themselves pro-family, pro-economy, or pro-community or a Christian should be ashamed. Here’s why. 🧵 bizjournals.com/washington/new…
