Calgary Urban Species Response Team (CUSRT)

Here is an open letter, signed by various concerned groups and individuals, that has been submitted to LEED with comments on the current draft version v.5. This letter suggests standards for bird collision deterrence that LEED certified buildings would need to adhere to.

I live in a body that can betray me without warning, lungs that may falter, strength that may slip. Food no longer passes my lips; a tube keeps me alive while pain keeps me humble. In the quiet hours when fear knocks loudest, I stand in the only power I have left: the choice to continue.

When euthanized animals are improperly disposed of, animals like scavengers (including eagles!) and pets, are put at risk of being poisoned. If you’re a veterinary professional, shelter worker, pet owner, or landfill manager, please watch this to prevent this from happening again

❗Breaking: Alberta minister quietly lifted the coal moratorium (again), meaning Albertans are about to see a lot more coal activity in our mountains. This reverts protections and lifts the suspensions on any approvals paused under the previous orders.

Just insane that we are letting trappers 'manage' our wildlife. Govt biologists have been silenced. Loewen's crew of uneducated trappers and trophy hunters are now in charge.
