@CaliDollToo @chelswhitl Considering that Pete is one of the two most popular politicians in the country, it seems like voters are more ready than people assume. ⬇️ The two most popular politicians in the country are Obama and Pete. A Black man and a gay man.

It's super disappointing to see how many Dems expect Pete to just be like "you're right" when someone tells him that he can't be on a presidential ticket because he's gay. Do they even hear themselves? Do they even realize how awful they sound?

Anyway, my point is that Kamala Harris had more to consider (and more risk) than the hetero white male, Joe Biden. It was hella easier for him to take the risk of a Black woman running mate.

@nerdypursuit @chelswhitl No. This is not an equal comparison. Biden is a white hetero male. He is the standard for presidents of the United States. Kamala, as a Black and Asian woman, had different considerations. It’s wild to me that you can’t see that because that’s crazy naive.

@chelswhitl Part of what drives me crazy: In 2020, imagine if Biden didn't bother looking at data and just assumed "It's too risky to choose a Black woman as my running mate." How would Harris have felt? Would she think that's okay? Of course not. But that's exactly what she did to Pete.
