Does anyone actually know what happened to the Somaliland–Taiwan marine deal? It was signed back in July 2025. No updates, no clarity, no visible progress. We have signed similar military agreements with Taiwan before, and the results speak for themselves: nothing. At some point, we have to stop romanticizing partnerships and start weighing real benefits against real non-benefits. I once supported the friendship between the two sides, but geopolitics don’t stand still. Once Somaliland gains recognition, the equation changes and we should be honest enough to reassess it.

From my understanding the Head of the of Somaliland, Abdirahman Irro, is about to make a historic mistake. Some doors, once opened, cannot be closed. This deal is one of them. Someone needs to tell Irro, legitimacy is worth nothing if the price is your sovereignty.
