🚨 Victor Nechita, the project manager for Tesla's Cybercab, is leaving the company 👻 Victor Nechita initially joined Tesla in 2017 as an intern on the Model 3 production line. This entry point coincided with what Elon Musk famously called "production hell", giving Nechita critical frontline experience during one of the most intense manufacturing ramps in automotive history. Building on that intense early foundation, he quickly transitioned into specialized technical roles. He steadily progressed from a seating engineer to a technical program manager for vehicle engineering. This upward climb through the ranks demonstrated his growing expertise in handling complex automotive subsystems and prepared him for much larger leadership responsibilities. His engineering career eventually culminated in a major leadership role for the company's most ambitious autonomous project to date. He secured the top position as the Vehicle Program Manager for the Cybercab. Operating under the title of Robotaxi Programs, he successfully oversaw the development of a completely novel vehicle architecture. He managed the complex engineering of a steering-wheel-free and pedal-less design from its early conceptual stages all the way to its physical realization. This professional journey reached a highly specific numerical milestone just before his departure. The very first Cybercab officially rolled off the Giga Texas production line on February 17, 2026. Nechita announced his move to Boston the very next day, capping off nearly a decade of service on a remarkably high note. By seeing the vehicle through to its first production unit, he leaves behind a solid foundation as Tesla prepares for its targeted volume production phase in April.
