I’ve been clear about my thoughts on FSD for years: it’s an incredible products that doesn’t come close to what it was sold as: unsupervised self-driving. It needs to be compared to what it was sold as. 90% of the value in the promise of FSD lies in the unsupervised part. It fails to deliver and then, there’s Tesla’s mishandling of the entire situation. HW2-3 owners will never get and it should be resolved already.

I should add that people floated these rumors to me as well last week before @AfonsoEV_. I didn't report on it on @ElectrekCo because I couldn't confirm it.

If something goes down with Lucid, I think a sale is more likely than a bankruptcy. This report, false or not, makes things more difficult. I wouldn't be surprised if someone got manipulated into posting this either for market manipulation or to mess with a deal for Lucid.

This is a weird one. A random blog posted the report that sent $LCID down 40%. Lucid denied the report and after being halted, the stock is now down 16%. The company is certainly not in a great position, but it was still recently able to raise $1 billion on the market and brought in new investors.

Well, maybe because: 1. We exclusively reported last month that the previous interim CEO Marc Winterhoff had been fired. Lucid confirmed hours later. 2. We exclusively reported on US workforce cuts. Lucid announced jobs reduction hours later. 3. We exclusively reported the Chief Product Eric Bach had been fired. It was later confirmed in his lawsuit. Should I go on with the list of Lucid-related reports @EV_CARBA reported that were later confirmed? Let me know, Fred. Happy to support!

The California-headquarters loophole is harder to defend. Framing it as protecting in-state jobs is thin when Tesla builds more EVs in California than anyone, its Fremont plant employs thousands, while Rivian’s vehicles are assembled in Illinois and Lucid’s in Arizona. Rewarding the location of a corporate flag rather than actual California manufacturing turns an affordability program into a political statement, and it invites a legal challenge Tesla would have a decent shot at winning. However, I can also understand California's perspective. Without the state's support for electric vehicles, Tesla would have almost certainly failed. And then, Tesla only left because its CEO's own political vendetta.
