The Israeli government's claim that Cdl. Pizzaballa's tiny entourage was blocked for reasons of "safety" falls apart when you realize the Franciscan friars at the Holy Sepulchre have never been denied entry since the church's closure in February - not even for reasons of "safety." JUST IN: Pope Leo XIV’s Vicar General for the Diocese of Rome issues statement after the Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, was barred by Israeli police from entering the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre to celebrate Palm Sunday Mass: diocesidiroma.it/dalla-diocesi-… Press Statement from the Diocese of Rome The Diocese of Rome expresses its fraternal closeness and solidarity with Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and with Father Francesco Ielpo, Custodian of the Holy Land, following today’s report from the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem and the Custody of the Holy Land. We have learned with deep sorrow that ecclesiastical authorities were prevented from accessing the Basilica of the Holy Sepulchre to celebrate the Palm Sunday Mass — an act that appears serious and unjustified, and which raises grave concerns for freedom of worship and for the respect of the Status Quo in the Holy Sites. In a time marked by tension and suffering, the witness of those who work tirelessly for dialogue and reconciliation deserves respect, attention, and protection. Through his pastoral mission and steadfast dedication to peace, Cardinal Pizzaballa stands as a spiritual and human reference for all who believe in the power of fraternity among peoples. The Diocese of Rome joins in the prayer offered this afternoon from the Mount of Olives, asking the Lord to grant the gift of peace for Jerusalem, for the Holy Land, and for all peoples affected by violence, so that hostilities may cease and paths of justice, respect, and coexistence may be opened. Furthermore, we raise our supplication for the Palestinian population of Gaza and the West Bank, severely affected by the violence of weapons and by humanitarian suffering that calls upon the conscience of the international community. Baldassare Card. Reina, Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome March 29, 2026

@RedWhiteBlueJew Pizzabella is a drama king. That said, Israel knows this and should have just let him offer his private Mass. They knew the press release was going to be immediately forthcoming.

“Why Isn’t Israel Letting Iran Murder Cardinal Pizzaballa on Palm Sunday?!?!” If you looked right now on X, you’d see reports about how Israel is blocking Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa from the Church of the Holy Sepulchre on Palm Sunday. For a country constantly accused of Apartheid—contrary to all available evidence—this seems like a weird move. Barak Ravid is reporting it, as is The Daily Wire’s Mary Margaret Olahan. So what’s the story? Is Israel engaging in Apartheid? Is Israel barring religious practice and observance for Catholics on a holy day? Yes! But also go look at the Kotel’s live feed right now on YouTube and tell me what you see? How many people do you see? How many Jews do you see? How many praying Jews? Zero? Fucking zero. None. Turns out, when Iran indiscriminately fires ballistic missiles at Israel—including with cluster munitions—they have the ability to hit holy sites like the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, which literally just happened last week. This story is a non-story. Or at least it’s not a story about Israel. It’s a story about Iran. And every single “journalist” who fails to mention Iran when disseminating this story is not doing their job. The holy sites are closed because Israel doesn’t want Iran to murder people like Cardinal Pizzaballa, and journalists are UPSET about this. Read that again: Israel is doing its best to protect ALL religious holy sites. Israel is doing its best to protect people of ALL religions from not getting murdered by Iran, and people are mad at ISRAEL! This is why Israel loses the media war. Not because Israel refuses to do the right thing, but because reporters refuse to do the right thing.

Over the past several weeks, Carrie Prejean Boller has complained that she was removed from the Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty because of her Catholic beliefs, and she has called out myself and other Catholic members of the commission for not defending her. This is absurd. Mrs. Prejean Boller was not dismissed for her religious convictions but rather for her behavior at a gathering of the Commission last month: browbeating witnesses, aggressively asserting her point of view, hijacking the meeting for her own political purposes. The Catholic position on matters of “Zionism,” to which I fully subscribe, is as follows: all forms of antisemitism are to be unequivocally condemned; the state of Israel has a right to exist; but the modern nation of Israel does not represent the fulfillment of Biblical prophecies and hence does not stand beyond criticism. If Mrs. Prejean Boller were dismissed for holding these beliefs, it is difficult to understand why I am still a member of the Commission. To paint herself as a victim of anti-Catholic prejudice or to claim that her religious liberty has been denied is simply preposterous.
Carrie Prejean Boller@CarriePrejean1

Your Excellency, you shared with me through text message to me that my position reflects Catholic teaching, especially that the modern state of Israel is not the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy. That is the position I expressed, and yet I was removed from the Religious Liberty Commission. Respectfully, it is difficult not to conclude that this commission does not truly care about religious liberty when a Catholic can be removed for faithfully articulating the Church’s teaching. Asking me to deny Catholic teaching in order to satisfy a political ideology is itself a violation of my religious freedom. As Pope Leo XIII warned, “To recoil before an enemy, or to keep silence when from all sides such clamor is raised against truth, is the part of a coward.” Whether I serve on this Commission or not, my voice will only grow louder for those being persecuted for their faith. I believe this appointment was ordained by God, and I will not abandon my Catholic faith to keep a position on a commission that has abandoned its mission. If my religious freedom is not protected, then no one’s is. Please speak up. Please stand up for Catholics. Be brave, Bishop Barron. The world needs brave men.

In the dramatic circumstances of war, information must guard against the risk of turning into propaganda. It is every journalist's duty to verify the news, so as not to become a megaphone for power. They must show the suffering that war always brings to populations, which entails showing the face of war and recounting it through the eyes of victims.

US bombs are radicalizing a new generation of Iranians. This little boy will learn who killed his mother, and, if history is any lesson, will likely grow up hating America and vowing revenge. Now multiply this thousands of times over (hundreds of thousands if this war continues for long). Bombing, death, destruction never fix problems; they make them worse. Ave Maria 🙏

Trump and Israel killed this child’s mother today in Mehrshahr, Iran — dropping a bomb on their home in the middle of the night. A terrified child calling for his mom who will never answer again.

The opening of Tehran's new subway station named after the Blessed Virgin Mary. The interior features reliefs of Mary and Jesus. This was built by the Iranian government to honor Armenian Christians. You won't hear about this in mainstream media, or from the perpetual war machine. Iran is home to millions of Christians, including ethnic Assyrians and Armenians, and many converts from Islam. Christians are given a seat in Parliament, as are Jews. There are approximately 400-700 active Christian churches in Iran. While the country is overwhelmingly Muslim, they show an increased interest in recent years in recognizing Christmas as a secular holiday, with Christmas lights, trees and other decorations in Tehran.

Douglas McGregor is a complete looney tune “All of our bases have been destroyed. Our harbor installations are destroyed. We actually have to fall back on India and Indian ports which is less than ideal. And I think Iran, much to our disappointment, is faring very very well.” Putting these clowns on TV is an insult to the American people.
