We’ve been learning how to care for our class pets Flora and Winnie.

We are learning to say the sounds and read the words in phonics. Some of us like to practise our skills in learning through play.

Making friends in learning through play.

What a great start to the new school year! Welcome to all of our families. The children have had a lovely time getting used to their new environment, friends and routines. 😃

We had such a lovely time at Yorkshire Wildlife park last week!

Yesterday was @RSE_day where we discussed consent and what situations require us to gain consent. The class then came up with their own scenarios.

We love the story of Tiddler. He is a super communicator and is always telling stories. Today as part of RSE day we thought about communicating feelings! @RSE_day

We have a new addition to Reception Class…Sidney the baby stick insect! Can you see him?

We hope all our dads, granddads, uncles, carers had a lovely day yesterday!

We had fun at the colour run. I bet everyone will sleep well tonight!

Earlier this week we have been carefully observing creatures in our environment…a pigeon sat on her nest, a ladybird larvae and a wasps nest. We also helped Nursery to release butterflies. 🦋

We had a lovely day at Bolsover Castle yesterday. Reception Class were SHINING all day!

We’ve been busy explorers this week… learning and writing about landing on the moon, making rockets, castles and painting underwater creatures!

Lovely teamwork this week creating Jack and Jill pictures from little loose parts.🙂

Noel got the Reception SHINE award today for making us all smile!

Today we had a special visitor…Noel the Senegal Parrot. He loves to talk and hang like a bat! We did some lovely drawings of him.

We enjoyed using Google Earth to find Uganda in the continent of Africa on World day of cultural diversity. We learnt a special dance and added instruments.

This week Reception Class has been very busy. We have done some amazing entries for two art competitions. Well done everyone!

We have been materials detectives this afternoon. We ended up at the park to see what all the equipment was made from…lots of great learning through play!!!
