Japanese BBQ Ribs w/ Smashed Potatoes🔥
These right here are one of my favorite ways to make ribs... sweet, salty, savory... absolutely phenomenal, especially with these smashed potatoes on the side!
FULL RECIPE ⬇️
INGREDIENTS
- 1 rack of Baby Back Ribs (I used @prairiefresh USA Prime)
- @trybachans Japanese BBQ Sauce
- Seasonings: Salt, pepper & garlic powder.
- 8 tbsp of butter
- Brown sugar
- Honey
- Spritzing Liquid: 1 part apple cider vinegar + 1 part water.
- 1 lb bag of petite gold potatoes
- Avocado oil spray
Toppings:
- Sriracha mayo
- Sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
Note(s): This recipe can be done in the oven as well.
DIRECTIONS
1. Remove the membrane from the ribs then pat all sides dry with a paper towel. Next, apply Japanese BBQ sauce for a binder and season generously with salt, pepper and garlic powder on all sides.
2. Place the ribs on the smoker at 225°F spritzing every hour until they reach around 165°F internal, then remove them from the smoker.
3. Lay out a large piece of foil and add 4 pats of butter evenly spaced out (the length of the ribs), sprinkle of brown sugar, drizzle of honey and Japanese BBQ sauce. Place the ribs on top then repeat the same process on the top of the ribs. Wrap tightly in the foil then place back on the smoker at 250°F until the ribs reach around 203°F internal and are probe tender.
4. Next, remove them from the foil and place them back on the smoker. Brush on the liquid from the foil and let them cook for another ~10 minutes to tack up then remove and let them rest for 10-15 minutes before garnishing and slicing.
5. For the smashed potatoes, boil until fork tender and strain. Spray a lined baking sheet with oil then add the potatoes and smash them down. Spray them with avocado oil, season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and brush on some Japanese BBQ sauce. Roast in the oven at 425° for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
6. Plate everything up, garnish & ENJOY! 🙌🏻
