If President Trump lets the Iranians charge a toll for ships in the Strait of Hormuz, then every time you fill up your car at the pump, you will put money straight in the pockets of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. This would be a humiliating disaster for the US.

Iran expresses its appreciation to China and Russia for their responsible conduct and today’s principled use of the veto in the UN Security Council.
By blocking a flawed draft, they upheld the UN Charter and prevented the Security Council from being misused to legitimise U.S. aggression under the pretext of freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf.
They stood firmly on the right side of history.

For what it's worth, I think America should cancel its alliance with Israel, which is obviously a bad and unhelpful ally. But unlike leftists and rightists, I don't actually think canceling it will fix any of our fundamental problems, or help people in Gaza.

Just think about how many losses the US took since the war began. Couldn't get regime change. Alliances and security guaranteed weakened. Stockpiles depleted. Couldn't get the uranium or the alleged nuclear sites. Disastrous "rescue" attempts. Even a loss at the UN. Devastating.
