#Texans S Reed Blankenship said he got a call from DeMeco Ryans during the process and he could tell that Ryans and the Texans really wanted him. Said it was the first time in his career that if felt like someone really wanted him. Says hearing what Ryans had to say, he was already bought in. Feels like he landed in a great spot.

Cool to hear Reed Blankenship talk about the new free agency rule that allows teams up to five phone calls to connect with their targets. That alone matters, knowing you’re one of only five calls can signal real interest. But Blankenship mentioned multiple times that DeMeco Ryans made it clear the Texans “really wanted me.” This feels like a classic DeMeco Ryans type of addition. When he identifies a player for his defense, it usually works out. He’s shown a strong eye for both talent and scheme/culture fit.
