If that was the case for KA wouldn’t he have already signed a deal? As long as he’s a free agent you still think about the possibility of adding him. Kirk was massively underwhelming and had one good game vs PIT and was massively MIA in biggest game of year and when needed most vs NE with Nico & Schultz out including dropping passes. I don’t think his skillset was a fit, vertical threat, should almost be a Z wr. Diggs is a perfect fit in the slot role like he played under Slowik in 2024, although he’d have more freedom here. Was Z pretty much whole career until then and bumped back out in NE. Got out priced to bring back in Hou and I suspect NE didn’t like of the field stuff, he was very productive for them. I don’t see how that logic of teams moving on from him is an argument against him and lacks context. KA & Diggs are only two vet WRs I’d look to bring in as they are true slots and would fit what we need. If not that’s fine too and indictment on where the are with Noel. I see Noah and Samuel as Z WRs and not a need as we have 5 outside WRs on roster assuming tank plays z again.

Does Keenan want to play anywhere that isn’t LA at this point though? He’s a legend for the Chargers franchise and they need WR help so if they thought he had a lot left in the tank it feels like they would bring him back. I also feel like if Houston wanted a vet slot why not just bring back Kirk who progressed in the offense as the season went along and was a plus blocker. I don’t see how Diggs is a fit in this offense at all, he is an unwilling blocker and now multiple offseasons in a row teams that needed WR help move on from him. If you want to bring in competition you can bring in a WR like Noah Brown or even Curtis Samuel, I just don’t think these old WRs who are clearly passed their best days solve anything.

It’s important to remember when we discuss possible WR additions/moves that the GM said at the end of the season to “expect more J Noel next season”. Noel was obviously limited as a rookie offensively but has a very high ceiling as a field stretcher and natural separator HOU lacks. I don’t think Caserio & co. would acquire somebody who would take more snaps from Noel.

Texans WR room as of 3/19: - Nico Collins - Jayden Higgins - Tank Dell - Jaylin Noel - Xavier Hutchinson - Justin Watson - Jared Wayne - Josh Kelly The current 7 in the room would be obvious but feels like a position Houston could look to add depth to.

Would have to change the offense and scheme pretty drastically if Higgins is primary slot. He’s not going to be able to do the option routes and make decisions on the fly based off coverage at a new position he’s never played in a very complex offense vs nfl defenses. Fine to play him in there a tick more but he can’t be the primary slot imo. I could see tank filling that role or Noel too. I do tend to agree with both tank and Noel, despite their size, their speed and playing bigger than size makes them a better z. They’ve taken an interesting approach to building wr room, not your typical x f & z from what I’ve observed.

@TexansJacob and @TexansCommenter I Higgins is an X but can also be a big slot (Y). Tank was always a Z and Noel has Z skills too, whether it be outside or in motion. Noel was actually a better intermediate and deep threat in college too and I think he could shift more outside than purely Slot/underneath

@KObjzy @TexansJacob Having a career X wr as your primary slot in an offense that doesn’t work around a “big slot” and is a super cerebral position with decision making he hasn’t been exposed to would be very unwise to me too

@TexansJacob If Noel is as good as we all think or hope then it shouldn’t matter who they add. He’d be in line to get the snaps he deserves

Keenan Allen (signed a 1 year 3m deal last year and was highly productive) and Stefon Diggs depending on price and legal trouble make a ton of sense. They’ve targeted veteran slots last two years, including those two guys specifically. This offense needs a savvy veteran slot who knows defenses and how to adjust his routes based off leverage and coverage given the freedom in that adjuster role. Kirk was supposed to be that guy but was more of a vertical threat and underwhelmed on the iq side, rarely on same page as CJ. The tough physical contested catch chain mover is an element too Allen and Diggs add that this EP offense is built off of. Even then if you think these guys aren’t upgrades and price is low enough the argument can be made adding them over Justin Watson or Xavier Hutchison.

Azeez Al-Shaair told @BarstoolGruden about the “amount of respect” he was given by his peers at the Pro Bowl & being told “the way you play the game is different.” “I truly feel, pound for pound, I am one of the most, if not the most physical player in the league.” “When you play against the Texans it’s a mentality that we have. That’s just something that I’ve always played with. I just think it’s gotta be played a certain way. Especially in the day & age of touchdowns, that stuff is nice & cute, but this is still a physical sport.”

@CTM_Show It’s been reported that Wyatt Teller’s agent said he wants to play on the left side to use the opposite arm. Also reported that CJ Stroud was involved in recruiting him to Houston. Both via @AaronWilson_NFL

What does the addition of Wyatt Teller mean for the Texans’ offensive line? “They seem to live in this world of ambiguity along the offensive line in terms of players’ positions… they keep signing these guys that don’t seem to fit together.” 😳

@Ky1eLong @robncypress While you’re here, I’d be remiss not to ask for the chance to interview you with an emphasis on OL & the Texans room. I know you are a busy man, but if it’s feasible I’d think Texans fans would love your insight.

@Ky1eLong @robncypress Ha I bet. Enjoyed your analysis. I figured the comment on age was because you had just heard Pete say 34-35 so just speaking in generalities.

Kyle Long (@Ky1eLong ) on the Texans & Wyatt Teller: “I definitely think they are going to be better. Wyatt Teller is going to help every single guy in that room, to see how he prepares, how he sees the game, how he communicates with CJ Stroud. I think the Texans got better.”
Houston Stressans@TexansCommenter

Pete Prisco on the Texans: “The offensive line, are they that much better? Probably not. Wyatt Teller was added too, but he’s 35-36 years old.” Wyatt Teller is, checks notes, 31.
