And of course the biggest thanks must go the residents of Cambridge who participated in many of the projects activities and schemes and without whom the City’s urban forest would be all the more poorer. Keep on planting and caring for those trees. 4/5

@Sam_in_Cam @ChrisHowellCam Sorry to hear that 6 of our trees failed despite the community's generous interventions. We had a 15% failure rate of trees planted in Trumpington in 21/22 overall and a cyclical approach to tree planting to ensure all failed trees, where appropriate are identified and replaced.

Residents at Ninewells have told me that some trees there have now had to be replanted three times, due to no aftercare by the developer. Extremely proactive RA made officers aware but it's proved a very slow process to get resolved

telegraph.co.uk/news/2022/12/3… Councils aren't monitoring survival rates for tree planting; this is partly down to resources as councils axed their enviro staff during the austerity years. There's also a mindset that the job's done when a tree's planted, whereas the job has just begun.

With @UNBiodiversity summit #COP15 officially underway in Montreal, you'll be hearing buzzwords such as "biodiversity" and "#biodiversityloss" a lot. What does it mean? Why does it matter? We explain. 👀👇

The Toronto District School Board has committed significant resources to tree planting and maintenance because the return on investment is clear. A study of 387 TDSB schools found significant correlations between tree canopy and student performance. bit.ly/3UgN9bT

📈 Emissions are rising ⏰ Time is running out ☀️ We must scale up climate solutions According to the latest report by the #IPCC, polluting fossil fuels are causing climate change. Now that we have the solutions, we need to scale them up quickly. #COP15 #ForNature via @WWF

By leaving deadwood in community spaces and woods, land managers & councils can provide homes for all sorts of insects, mosses, fungi & lichens, as well as vital bird & bat nesting sites. It's also easy climate action, as deadwood locks up carbon for years! #wildlife #nature
