@CamHenlin

if I had all the money I’ve spent on cars, I'd spend it on cars / classic cars, classic tech

@Political_Rott I haven't driven this in almost a year since I got the dog cuz he'll never get in it so it's also going to go up for sale.

@AdamSchwar38321 I admit the Odyssey definitely sounds way cooler, and it has no torque down low so you’ll find yourself making it wind out constantly

Road trip in a rental van today! I’m very surprised how much better the Chrysler Pacifica is than the Honda Odyssey I rented for the same trip a few months ago

@1MZFE The suspension and chassis is noticeably stiffer on the Pacifica and it is much more comfortable handling the corners in Southern Oregon / Northern California on interstate 5. Tires probably make a bit of a difference in actual grip but the suspension feel adds confidence

@CamHenlin The tires that are on or not on a given press vehicle, or rental, or demo can make such a big difference.

@1MZFE My impression is that anyone who is able to have an opinion on handling would quickly choose the Pacifica in a comparison

@CamHenlin It’s funny how subjective the comparison is. Many say the opposite. Me? I need an 8-seater, so no Sto’n’Go for me 🥺 I greatly enjoy the Pacifica.

@Mike_M_Klotz I agree. This thing handles much better and has more usable power than the Odyssey. The sound system is better too

@__el__toro__ That caliper and rotor both look like something you'd see on a racing go kart

Our Formula SAE car back in the day had a unique disc design that I've never seen on another vehicle. If you take a close look at the slots, you'll notice the disc is completely slotted through at certain points, essentially creating fingers. When the caliper is squeezed, the fingers deform & make solid contact with the rest of the disc as they drag through the brake pads. The inner slots next to the fingers also incorporate this feature to help stiffen the disc under braking. Why were the discs designed this way? Well, another interesting component of the design is that the discs are made out of aluminum (and thus were super light). The slots allowed the discs to thermally expand without cracking. They also had a proprietary coating applied (I believe it was high-friction & nickel based) to greatly extend service life. The judges in the design portion of the competition loved our idea, but deducted a few points because we could not tell them what the coating was made of. Has anyone ever seen brakes like this before?

@WillyD115 @Mike_M_Klotz Came here to say this. I run these on my Miata and they’re no autocross tire but they have plenty of grip to have fun with and also handle nicely in the rain

The Stinger may need tires soon. Any tire recommendations for a 4-season daily driver that gets flogged around a few dozen roundabouts per day?

Here's the digital music system I installed in my Jeep Cherokee in 2001. Laptops were too expensive and desktops were too big, so I took a motherboard out of a computer and put it in a Klogs shoebox. Hard drives were bungee corded in egg crate foam for shock protection.

I priced out the destroyed panels and it looked like about ~$15k in parts, without installing them or painting. And it sounds like there is some mechanical damage to the cooling system as well which might be a few more thousand in parts. Installing those, painting, etc and you could be into it another $10k easy. All to have a Testarossa with severe damage history
