@MKB27 @Peter_Fitz @JaneCaro FMD. One Nation crumbled at the first stage of accountability. Was polling well pre-election, so media subjected them to the bare minimum level of scrutiny. "Hey, do you realise you have an accused sex offender in your team?". Rather than deal with it, ON's glass jaw crumbled.

If One Nation became the Opposition Party, that would be excellent, in my view. See how they go with scrutiny.

Peter Malinauskas needs 12 seats to control the upper house (he may only have 9; 5 continuing + 4 new) and so won’t be free to do as he pleases. On current numbers he’ll need the Libs (likely 6; 4+2), One Nation (likely 3; 0+3) or the Greens (possibly 3; 1+2). #saparli

@tommysantos14 Not sure I agree, USA voters elected Trump *twice*, it was not a one-off aberration. Some things will "return to normal", but the rest of the world will never forget. USA relations with the rest of the world will never be the same.

When Trump leaves office: The Department of War will go back to being the Defense Department. The Trump Kennedy Center will go back to being the Kennedy Center. The Gulf of America will once again be the Gulf of Mexico. The unfinished East Wing (it won't be finished by the end of Trump's term) will be rebuilt by the next president, and it will not be a ballroom. Federal agencies packed with unqualified loyalists will fire those people and rehire the career experts Trump fired. The Department of Justice will go back to enforcing the law instead of protecting the president. Scientific agencies like NOAA, the EPA, and the CDC will go back to publishing research without political interference. The U.S. will re-align with its allies and not with its enemies. The presidential pardon power will stop being used as a rewards program for loyalists. Inspectors General will go back to investigating corruption instead of getting fired for it. The White House press room will go back to having briefings, with real journalists and not podcasters. U.S. foreign policy will stop revolving around flattering dictators. And the world will progress as though Donald Trump never existed.

Under AUKUS, Australian sailors are embedded on US submarines to learn how to crew nuclear-powered subs. So when the USS Charlotte torpedoed an Iranian frigate, you'd expect our personnel to be at their stations. Instead, our government ordered them to their bunks. Our people were little more than submarine tourists. This government suffers from a kind of practical pacifism, where the only circumstances our armed forces might conceivably be permitted to fire a shot in anger is at an enemy actually bombing Darwin. At some point, the US president who's supposed to give Australia up to five Virginia class nuclear powered submarines is going to ask why he should divert firepower to a country that won't use it. Could a country that benches personnel already embarked on a US sub ever be trusted to be at America's side when it really counts?
