There were under 10,000 St Mirren fans at the semi final today. Outnumbered by 4:1, by Celtic fans, and @NCCeltic still managed to embarrass themselves by attacking St Mirren fan coaches. Families who wanted to just go to a football match. Dads, mums their weans. Shameful.

If harsh punishments will make players think twice about doing it, then I am absolutely all for it

But blatant cheating needs to be punished tho, currently in SFA rules they can only retrospectively ban if simulation leads to substantial advantage as in this case.

We can confirm that following a SFA hearing, Callum Slattery has been handed a four-match suspension, two of which are suspended. We will watch and expect consistency going forward so that Callum isn’t treated differently to any players who are accused of simulation. 📝 bit.ly/3NZM8b6

However if they know that diving or cheating in some way to gain a clear advantage, eg red card, penalty etc, will possibly result in a 2 game suspension then they may think twice.

@cjharvey_ @nialltodd82 @MotherwellFC It a hard one as an in game yellow card for diving isnt a deterrent, why individuals like Slattery do it. If on review post game cheating has given a team a big advantage in this very specific way then they should be punished. It’s an isolated scenario as it wasn’t seen in game

However a subsequent 2 match ban for absolutely blatant cheating that was overlooked at the time could be a good deterrent

@cjharvey_ @nialltodd82 @MotherwellFC There is clear contact on Baccus which wasn’t deemed violent conduct at the time (went to VAR during the game). Quite frankly it sets a good precedent, blatant cheating which has big impacts on games needs to be addressed. You only feel aggrieved as it’s your team thats affected

The SFA have set a dangerous precedent here and will need to dish out bans for every following incident like this. It’s been pulled from nowhere and is BS

King got a wrongfully given red card in the Slattery incident. Also you can quite clearly see contact on Baccus face. The 2 incidents are not comparable.
