The deaths of 4 IDF soldiers had to be answered. Iran is very effectively using Hezbollah to drive a wedge between the US and Israel. This was happening in the run up to the signing of the MOU and now currently where Hezbollah make attacks such as 67 missiles and drones fired on 17 June and when Israel retaliates the claim goes out that Israel is putting the MOU in jeopardy. Is the continued set of exchanges actually moving toward a real solution to the problems of Hezbollah and Hamas? Or might it be better to join fully in the US led negotiations and put military action against Hezbollah on hold while that plays out over the next two months Israel should tell the US if there are firm assurances Hezbollah will be dealt with in the negotiations we can be the bigger ones and back off. Otherwise Iran will use this to break our alliance with Israel and gain concessions. The proxies have been pushed back to get some kind of deal signed, understandably as the nuke dust is the main concern. But the US can’t disengage from the region until they are dealt with. The US plan is for those in the region to police themselves. And that is what Israel is doing, but that may need to put that on hold to help get a US win on nukes and then we all make a play that says no more Iranian funding of proxies or open season to wipe them out.
