No true elite prospects and likely aren’t drafting top of the draft. You have cap space because no one is signed long term. If you’re happy great but I think it’s bleak.

Wes Clark is the best director of scouting in hockey. Id admit if this team & org was in a bad spot. They absolutely were 4 years ago with Hextall. That’s all changed

In 2 years your team is going to be where SJS just was. The dif is SJS has enough talent and assets to trade for your entire core and have leftover to add. SJS won by a mile.

@Matthewsfan_ They traded the Penguins pick (#14) to Buffalo with a 3rd for pick #11 and picked up Sam Dickinson. Also flipped Granlund for a 1st that got them Ravensbergen. Good asset management for the Sharks at the end of the day, but Dubas definitely didnt get the short end of the stick

Yesavage coming into camp with the shoulder issue was free path towards the Jays working with him slow & getting that extra year. No possible grievances. No service time manipulation accusations. But that’s what’s going on here if you read between the lines. He’ll be fine.

@EdmOilerlytics Skinner has cont'd to play basically as usual despite being on an arguably worse team. Jarry has played worse after being traded to an objectively better team. Plus they can walk away at year end if they want. They won that trade. Skinner is also a more loved man in the lockeroom

Penguins couldn’t get Jackson Blake in the Guentzel deal. Love Kyle Dubas, but he totally dropped the ball with that trade.

@CanadianPens Not the best way to treat a franchise legend but I don’t see a reason why he can’t be a 6th/7th defensemen who plays 40-50 games next year Maybe 7th defensemen is a bit aggressive. But no reason he should be playing top 4

Letang has 2 more years at 6.1m AAV left on his deal. This current situation can’t go on much longer. He needs to adapt his game or Muse/Dubas will be forced to make the tough decision & limit playing time. Starting next year he submits a 10 team approved trade list as well.

It’ll be close, but the Pens might break the fewest regulation losses record for a single full season in franchise history which is 21 from 1993 & 2017. They currently have 18 regulation losses with 14 games remaining.
