Chronic shame makes hiding out and feigning superiority seem like a better option than reaching out and forming connections. I think millennials have a shame epidemic going on and the loneliness epidemic will only shift when we acknowledge and start working on that.
@anne_theriault Thank you for posting this. I've been sitting on edits for an article (my first) that is supposed to be published next year SINCE MAY. I just cannot handle working on them, and you know what? It'll probably take less than a hour irl. Why do we do this????
“Humanity is like an enormous spider web, so that if you touch it anywhere, you set the whole thing trembling.”
— Frederick Buechner, The Hungering Dark
@anne_theriault I should say, at least that's my interpretation from the preamble and first chapter, both of which have been assigned reading for my Liturgy course. Maybe the rest of the book goes down a different path.
@anne_theriault Have you read Margaret Visser's The Geometry of Love? It's a deep dive on Sant' Agnese fuori le Mura, St. Agnes outside the Walls, of Rome, and follows a tour of the church building and the story of St. Agnes to look at what churches themselves represent.
@Audrey_Burges I watched it for the second time yesterday, this time with my 8 yo daughter and two of her friends, and cried all night. I was sobbing at 11 pm. WHAT IS HAPPENING??? I don't even know if I had a Barbie as a kid.
@anne_theriault I used to live a block and a half from Honest Ed's and can still feel the air in the store in my nostalgia. It had a heft to it, its own scent ecosystem.
Whenever the ladies of #SellingSunset walk into a restaurant or coffee shop they’re dressed like the X Men at the Met Gala. Pay attention to the people at the other tables dressed normally. So funny.
@achzkris Sorry sorry, relevant miss there: following their LOW SODIUM meal plans. It just made everything really straightforward and less intimidating while also very delicious.
This book by @albpeeler considers gender and God in
