By the way, Belarus is the only other country in Europe that uses First Past the Post.

Today I have resigned as a Green Party town councillor on @ShipleyTC.
#LongCovid has robbed me of my ability to play any meaningful role in my community and leaves me incapable of representing my constituents.

Back in June, then Labour MP for Bristol Thangam Debbonaire was "enraged" when Green activists suggested she'd be put in the Lords if she lost. Six months later - that is, today - Thangam Debbonaire has been put in the Lords. As Green activists said would happen!

@LoftusSteve I obviously don't want them to but it only needs them to gain another 10-12 percentage points above their recent polling. Chaos would probably be being kind. Hence the need to move to a democratic voting system

They really can't, nor should you want them to.
They have 5 MPs, nobody is going from 5 to 320+, but if they did, it would mean the Defence secretary was a 50 year old from Grimsby with 2 car dealerships and zero political experience. It would be chaos.

As Storm Darragh ravages the UK, keeping us prisoners awake by rattling our doors, cutting power to 55,000 homes, and placing 3 million lives at risk, I'm struck by the fact that this 1 storm is already more disruptive than all UK climate protest over the last 30 years combined.
