💰The Cost of Renewables 2025 Megathread💰 The Government is pushing the narrative that renewables are cheap and gas is the problem. It's been 18 months since my last thread showed this to be a lie. Have things changed? Or is Ed Miliband driving us towards ruin? 🧵

Nobody, including Kemi, can keep a mask on 24/7! She is the uniparty. People will see.

🚨This woman, @KemiBadenoch, will never get my support for anything she says again. She doesn’t know me from Adam and yet says Keir Starmer was right to ban me and others who are always very peaceful when we come to the UK.

@LoftusSteve @GHWTowler And the key is in your last sentence “merely that public authorities consider all the relevant factors”… it’s so open ended and infinite all you have to do is convince an activist judge that you have a relevant factor they never considered. Like the taste of chicken nuggets…

"local authorities must comply with the duties set out in the Equalities Act 2010, including the duty not to discriminate and the public sector equality duty. But this is not a legal duty to translate documents into foreign languages. Even if publishing only in English could put some people at a particular disadvantage, such a policy may be justified if local authorities can demonstrate that the integration and cost concerns pursue a legitimate aim and outweigh any disadvantage. The equality duty does not require a particular outcome, merely that public authorities consider all the relevant factors."

@RupertLowe10 @Nigel_Farage Alistair, you're making Lowe sound thick. He would know it's a requirement under the Equality Act. You clearly don't.

@RupertLowe10 @Nigel_Farage Again, @Rupertlowe10 is being disingenuous, as translation services have to be provided to meet the council's obligations under the Equality Act 2010 Only central govt can change such obligations... and central govt imposed obligaions are immense: x.com/TheAccountantU…
AccountantUK #FreeSpeech 🇬🇧🇮🇱@TheAccountantUK

@russellquirk REMINDER: central govt mandates over 70% of council spend... Reform will DOGE the remaining 29%

This isn't accurate and the Government clarified this in 2013, "local authorities must comply with the duties set out in the Equalities Act 2010, including the duty not to discriminate and the public sector equality duty. But this is not a legal duty to translate documents into foreign languages. Even if publishing only in English could put some people at a particular disadvantage, such a policy may be justified if local authorities can demonstrate that the integration and cost concerns pursue a legitimate aim and outweigh any disadvantage. @RupertLowe10 @Nigel_Farage It's a legal requirement under the Equality Act, councils have their hands tied until a Reform government can change it. Rupert is a knowledgeable man who knows this but the guy running this account is making Rupert sound like an amateur.

We’ve done our own homework on this Farage, and Reform’s track record in power is atrocious. A Restore Britain investigation has found that Reform’s Lincolnshire County Council spent an astounding £272,245 on foreign language translation/interpretation in just one year. That was a big increase on the year before Reform took power. The top languages? • Bulgarian • Polish • Romanian • Lithuanian • Arabic (all) • Kurdish (all) • Russian • Latvian • Pashto It’s not just Lincolnshire - it’s the same across all of your councils. Taking down flags is irrelevant when your people are wasting millions on foreign language translation. Is this what Reform voters want? I think not. Restore Britain would scrap ALL foreign language translation. Actions speak louder than words. You talk a big game, but when given power you’re exactly the same as the rest - even worse according to these figures.

I wonder what effect a Burnham govt that does an exit tax, a wealth tax and a 45% capital gains tax will have on this.

@BenGrahamUK Why do Reformers always have to lie? She said she didn't know anything about the 11 people banned from entry, but that the Government should have the power to stop people in general.

Conservative leader Kemi Badenoch backing the suppression of free speech in Britain is staggering. 11 people banned from the UK for political views. Not crimes. Not violence. Views. That goes completely against traditional conservatism values, which have always claimed to defend free expression, open debate, and the right to dissent, not restrict it based on political disagreement.

Bev Turner@beverleyturner

How can @KemiBadenoch not know who these people are?.... If you are the leader of the opposition and your PM has just banned 11 people from travelling to the UK because of their political views (or their "hate speech"), you should be consumed with curiousity to know who they are and what they said. OR you just don't care about #freespeech. You just care about winning elections. We are so sick of this theatre.
