i find the phrasing of this interesting bc to me “if this happened to them instead” in divergent/au settings is actually a setup for deeper character exploration that doesn’t result in “ooc” necessarily. if you adapt base traits to a new premise, they can still be in character

another similarity Vox & Alastor share, isn't it I could see it as a way for him to keep others at an arm's length, be in control and above the rest, but in his pursuit of losing humanity he also becomes a lot less in control of his own behavior and gradually turns animalistic

when he eventually does let himself be persuaded and wears an older, larger TV model again, it's a very conflicting feeling - it might be uncomfortable to have a heavier head again, too Alastor sees him and present!Vox with an older TV head is certianly stirring something inside

Vox is all about innovation, but there's a trend to go back to "80s/90s nostalgia" which the Vees want to cash in, of course, but it also brings up the uncomfortable idea "let's have Vox switch back to one of his old heads to sell the aesthetic!" returning back to the...past?

@voxvangogh it's such an interesteding punishment he was dealt, and we can see how he changes/loses more of himself across time - from his human days all the way up to his defeat when he's quite literally just a screen, no other human parts left other than his very soul...

the loss of identity and the constant objectification Vox inflicts on himself is so fascinating. He wants to be a flawless product, because humans are inherently flawed, but an object can constantly be improved until it reaches 99,99% perfection

friend: in the age of streaming, the question "what is television?" becomes highly philosophical me: what even is Vox anymore? does he know himself at this point?

back in the days you needed an actual TV set to watch movies, but nowadays pretty much anything with a screen can serve as "television" - it's my reasoning for why Vox sometimes seems more like a computer than an ordinary TV (constantly evolving and moving with the times)

The biggest piece of advice I can give to any artist is to create what YOU want to create. Because if you create for other people you’ll never be satisfied. Because they are never satisfied with anything. It’s your art, and if you like it that’s good enough

@49nls2 oh, it being called "human Alastor" was the exact reason why I first thought that he must have a different name as a human. I believe that they wrote it that way since his actual human name will be revealed in a future season perhaps? but yeah, we'll have to wait and see!

@CandySignal666 I’m pretty sure Alastor’s true name is Alastor. In the card where he’s killing someone as a human, the name of the card is human Alastor whereas Vox’s as a human is Vincent.

screensaver mode with the bouncing DVD logo is cute, but I also love Vox's dreams being scenes of movies and shows he's seen since his head is a literal TV and him self-inserting into every role as the main character

I love drawing Vox without a hat bc his antennae bouncing around is too cute... I guess it's the same when drawing Alastor with his tail out, both tail & antennae make it easy to spot their emotions (so in this domestic setting, they are comfortable & don't hide them)
