This moment is more than just a beginning; it is the unfolding of vision, purpose and opportunity. These 35 individuals represent ambition, potential and the courage to step into financial freedom. Over the next six weeks, they will be equipped, challenged and empowered with the tools, knowledge and mindset needed to thrive and create impact in their respective financial journeys. Your relationship with money is often shaped long before you start earning it. The beliefs you carry about scarcity, fear, and wealth quietly influence your financial decisions every day. Financial discipline begins with understanding your money story, renewing your mindset, and building healthier habits for the future. 3M Programme has greatly shaped Jonathan’s understanding of personal growth and financial responsibility. Through the programme, he learned the importance of accountability, being intentional with decisions, staying disciplined and taking responsibility for both personal and financial actions. One of the key lessons that stood out to him was the value of maintaining a personal balance sheet. He explains that understanding your income, expenses, assets and liabilities helps an individual make wiser financial decisions and creates a clear picture of personal financial health. Mindset is the engine behind every financial decision you make. Long before budgets, investments, or income streams come into play, your beliefs about money shape how you earn, spend, save, and grow it. Financial literacy is often taught as a set of skills, understanding interest rates, managing debt, or building wealth but without the right mindset, those skills rarely translate into lasting results. Your financial mindset is formed early, often influenced by family, culture and personal experiences. Some people grow up seeing money as scarce and difficult to obtain. Others see it as a tool that can be created, managed and multiplied. Neither perspective is entirely right or wrong, but each leads to very different behaviours. A scarcity mindset tends to focus on survival. It may lead to fear based decisions like avoiding investments, hoarding money without strategy, or constantly feeling behind regardless of progress. On the other hand, a growth-oriented mindset sees money as something that can expand through learning, discipline and opportunity. This mindset encourages calculated risks, long-term thinking, and continuous improvement. Understanding financial concepts is important, but mindset determines whether you apply them. For example, someone may know the importance of saving but still spend impulsively because they prioritize short-term satisfaction over long-term stability. Another person might understand investing but avoid it due to fear of loss. A strong financial mindset bridges the gap between knowledge and action. It helps you delay gratification, stay disciplined, learn from mistakes, and remain consistent. One of the most overlooked aspects of financial mindset is identity. If you see yourself as “bad with money,” your behavior will often align with that belief. If you identify as someone who is disciplined, strategic, and capable of growth, your actions begin to shift accordingly. Money is not just logical but it’s emotional. Spending, saving, and investing are deeply tied to feelings like fear, pride, anxiety, and validation. Developing emotional discipline allows you to make decisions that align with your goals instead of your mood. Long-Term Thinking vs. Short-Term Pressure A mindset focused on long-term growth understands that wealth is built gradually. Small, consistent actions compound over time, and sacrifices today can create freedom tomorrow. A powerful financial mindset takes ownership. Instead of blaming external factors, it focuses on what can be controlled such as habits, decisions, and growth. Continuous Learning and Adaptability Financial literacy is a lifelong process. Markets change, opportunities evolve, and personal circumstances shift. A strong mindset embraces learning and adaptability. Discipline Over Motivation Motivation fades, but discipline sustains progress. Building consistent habits like saving, tracking expenses, and investing regularly creates long-term stability. The Power of Vision A clear vision gives purpose to financial decisions. Whether it’s security, freedom, or legacy, having a goal keeps you focused and committed. Financial literacy is not just about understanding money, it’s about thinking differently about it. When mindset aligns with discipline, growth, and purpose, financial success becomes achievable and sustainable.
