@Pabel5Pabel @jessgill03 Neither me or Jess are Labour or SNP supporters, so do you think we want 16 year olds to vote?

@CapnJoz @jessgill03 I am in the UK. Labour want them to have a vote. In Scotland 16 year olds have been able to vote for 10 years. According to Scottish government their brains are not sufficiently developed until they are 25 so cannot be fully responsible for their actions if arrested.🤷‍♀️

It’s really strange how some boomers are blaming young people taking “bullshit degrees” for the reason they can’t buy a house when they’re the ones who encouraged that if we wanted to be successful, we should get a degree. Most 18 year olds are following the advice of their parents and their schools when they go to university - this is system that the boomers set up and now young people are being blamed for it.

27% are millionaires, mostly via property, but most have no private pension and rely entirely on the state, which is in deep distress. This system is going to forcibly correct via collapse, whereby pensioners will sell off their properties at discounted rates (probably to asset managers). The state pension will either cease to exist or become means tested. I'm not saying this to be hurtful, this is just the way it's going to go. And if I was a pensioner I'd feel pretty angry that this is coming because I *thought* I had done the right thing for my whole life. Today's pensioners will soon end up betrayed by the system just like the youth have been already.

Boomers conflate technological progress with civilisational progress. They see cheap mobile phones and Sky TV and assume life must have improved across the board. But the things that matter most — a first home, family formation, high quality of life — are more out of reach today than at any point in their lives.

@Sargon_of_Akkad @AnaboliclyJelqd Why should I trust a party's policy documents over the public spergings of its influential figures? Anyone can curate a persuasive document on anything For example, clearly a big reason not to trust Reform's stated policy is because the party is packed with Tories

It is actually not just that simple as this message is literally shared between Labour, Conservatives, and Reform. You, not being based in Britain, may not be aware of this, but the "deport foreigners" memetic battle has already been won.

@cfdownes_ Just pissing away your platform with this babble. “Deport foreigners” - it’s that simple.

I once went to a Great Gatsby costume party dressed as the billboard (drew glasses on a piece of paper and wrote T J ECKLEBURG at the bottom, punched eyeholes in it and sat judging everyone with it in front of my face). I plan to bring this level of laziness to future children’s World Book Day costumes.

@astor_charlie @Haryan_Glaeddyv I run the WSI account and organised the protest. Again, I’m not trying to start drama but if you’re going to be bitchy I’m going to reciprocate.

@Haryan_Glaeddyv Even very high earners are struggling to keep up with the absurdly high interest rates. So there is effectively a 9% tax on graduates for 30 years after they leave university - or most of their working life. A huge barrier to getting on the property ladder and starting a family.
