i first played night in the woods as an actual uni drop out who was also living in a family members attic, journalling and playing bass so you can imagine the psychological harm of it all tbh

@saiyanhajime I feel the same! Cause some people only want to see a specific thing. And it’s just impossible for me to create something for every account every week. The energy ebbs and flows like ya said. And especially when things get busy that’s ok, I’ll post what I love

@CapriConcha I think splitting accounts was good for me overall, don't get me wrong. My growth has been better since. But it's just impossible for me to be someone I'm not. I don't draw daily. I don't post weekly. I go long stretches ignoring some accounts. That's ok. Because it has to be ok.

I've been active online for almost 30 years and this mesley following is what I have to show for it.
I know why. Nothing has really changed about how you grow a following since dA in the 2000s and I'm kinda sick of people refusing to see otherwise.

I wish big artists actually gave useful advices instead of saying “just draw for yourself bro” over and over again😞 Like, why they never tell people that they should post almost everyday? Why don’t they tell people how to utilize trends and how to make your OCs presentable?

@saiyanhajime Honestly seeing all this really hit for me. Cause I have several accounts for different niches but man you really hit the core of why I’m probably feeling tired of them. I like a WIDE variety of things and I need to recenter on making what I love

The question to ask yourself is, why do you want to be a popular artist?
It's much better to have 5 people who really love you and what you do than 500 who are barely interested. Just because an artist has a huge following doesn't mean they're making a living from their work.
