Had the opportunity to spend some time in the community out of uniform this morning helping with the @CityofLaVista Youth Basketball Clinic working on fundamentals. Building skills and relationships with the next gen is vitally important to our community based policing mission!

🚍 Stop for school buses when the stop arm is out and lights are flashing, traffic must stop in both directions (unless divided by a median). 🚶 Watch for walkers and bicyclists especially around crosswalks and intersections. Please be patient and give them extra space.

Together, we can make sure students, teachers, and families have a safe start to the new year. From all of us at the La Vista Police Department welcome back students, and stay safe!

📵 No distracted driving phones down, eyes up. A few seconds of distraction can lead to serious consequences. ⏰ Plan for extra time traffic increases as families return to drop-off and pick-up routines.
