James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony LVMPD was proud to participate in the James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial Ceremony in Reno earlier today. Metro Detectives Josh Ferriero and Strahinja Pavovic were awarded Survivor Plaques for their bravery during an ambush attack in June 2025. We also honored fallen @NLVPD Officer Jason Roscow, whose name was enshrined on the memorial wall. Our Honor Guard Pipes & Drums represented LVMPD with pride and dignity during the solemn ceremony.

Honoring Service and Civic Commitment! Yesterday, LVMPD Sergeant Tony Brotherson, Officer Celina Sarafin, and Crime Prevention Specialist Kelly Garis, with our Anti-Violence through Community Engagement team, were honored with the Liberty Bell Award. Presented annually, the Liberty Bell Award recognizes individuals who exemplify respect for the rule of law, promote civic responsibility, support good governance, and inspire community trust in justice. The award reflects the mission of the Clark County Law Foundation, which is to empower Nevada communities, especially youth, through education, outreach, and service. Congratulations to all recipients on this well-deserved recognition and for their continued commitment to our community!

Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony Members of the LVMPD Honor Guard took part in the 29th Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony today in Carson City, joining agencies from across the state in remembrance. The ceremony marked the conclusion of a 434-mile relay run that began in Las Vegas last week, ending at the State Capitol in tribute to Nevada officers who made the ultimate sacrifice. This year, LVMPD joins the City of North Las Vegas in honoring Officer Jason Roscow, whose name was added to the memorial.

A 434-mile relay run that began last week in Las Vegas ended in front of the State Capitol Building at a memorial for Nevada officers killed in the line of duty. This year LVMPD grieves along with the City of North Las Vegas as the name of fallen Officer Jason Roscow was added to the memorial.

LVMPD’s Sexual Assault Detail arrested 39-year-old Martin Guerra for a sexual assault that occurred within Las Vegas. Guerra was booked into the Clark County Detention Center for the following charges: kidnapping 1st degree, sexual assault (3 counts), battery to commit sexual assault, attempt sex assault, and open/gross lewdness (3 counts). Detectives believe there may be additional victims. Guerra was last seen driving a white 2018 Nissan NV 200 work van with a black front bumper. Anyone who may have been a victim of Guerra or has information about this crime is urged to contact the Sexual Assault Detail at 702-828-3421.

💙Igor Soldo Memorial Park 💙 Today, we were honored to attend the groundbreaking of the Igor Soldo Memorial Park, a meaningful tribute to a fallen LVMPD Police Officer. City leaders, including Mayor Shelley Berkley and Councilwoman Nancy Brune, joined LVMPD and Century Communities to mark the beginning of this project at Iron Mountain Road and Alpine Ridge Way. Officer Igor Soldo and his partner, Alyn Beck, were tragically killed in the line of duty on June 8, 2014. Today’s ceremony was a powerful reminder of their sacrifice and the lasting impact they continue to have on our community. Alyn Beck Memorial Park is located at 9220 Brent Lane. Once complete, the park will feature a playground, water play area, soccer fields, and pickleball courts, creating a space where families can gather, children can play. We are grateful to Century Communities for funding this project and to everyone who helped bring this vision to life. Igor Soldo Memorial Park is expected to open in early 2027.

One Bear Hug at a Time 💙 Tyler Anthony Ballew was an extraordinary young man who faced cancer with the courage of a true champion. He will forever be remembered as a loyal friend and the best big brother to his sisters, Ashley and Natalie. His remarkable courage earned him recognition as the City of Las Vegas Citizen of the Month. Tyler attended Staton Elementary School and Sig Rogich Middle School in Summerlin. He loved sports and was always flashing that huge, infectious smile as he headed to football, basketball, lacrosse, wrestling, swimming, or soccer practice and games. His positive spirit touched everyone around him. After losing Tyler, his family knew he would want his beloved stuffed animals, which had brought him so much joy as a little boy, to continue helping others. Today, those teddy bears ride along in LVMPD patrol cars across Las Vegas. When a child is scared, hurt, or living through their worst moment, our officers will place one of Tyler’s bears in their arms, giving them comfort, safety, and love exactly when they need it most. One bear hug at a time, Tyler is still showing up for people. We think of Tyler every day. His legacy of strength and kindness lives on through this beautiful act of love 💙

What started as a planned weekend event at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway didn’t stay at the track. As crowds left sanctioned events, some attempted to take over intersections across the valley — putting drivers, spectators, and the community at risk. 🎥 In this video: A vehicle takes over an intersection at Tropical Parkway and Celebration Way around 12:30 a.m. on April 26, 2026, as a crowd gathers. Our air unit tracks the suspect vehicle from above… until the car crashes. Officers move in and take the suspects into custody. This is exactly what our enforcement operation was designed to stop. Over a three-day, zero-tolerance operation: ▪️ 77 arrests (66 adults, 11 juveniles) ▪️ 59 vehicles towed/impounded ▪️ 10+ attempted takeover locations disrupted ▪️ 19 out-of-state participants identified ▪️ 4 firearms recovered This was a coordinated effort: 🔹 North Las Vegas Police Department cleared reckless groups in their jurisdiction 🔹 Nevada State Police targeted I-15 corridors, stopping “rolling races” and dangerous high-speed activity Street takeovers aren’t entertainment — they’re dangerous, illegal, and put lives at risk. APRIL GOOD TICKET! 🎉 This month’s Good Ticket honors Convention Center Area Command Community Oriented Policing Officers Noah Loeffler, Kurt Atkinson, Austin Burgueno, and Jann Valeza for their extraordinary compassion and care following a life-threatening traffic collision involving a visiting family from the United Kingdom. In February, officers responded to the collision involving a mother, father, and their two-year-old daughter, all of whom required hospitalization, with the mother and child sustaining critical injuries. In the difficult days that followed, these officers went far beyond their duties. While the mother and daughter remained in intensive care, they checked on the family daily, brought meals to the father, and provided toys to comfort their young daughter. The officers also worked with MGM Signature Towers to secure an extended hotel stay at no cost and helped connect the family with resources during their recovery. Thanks in part to their continued support, the family has since made a remarkable recovery and returned home to the United Kingdom. @ResortsWorldLV, in partnership with the @LVMPDFoundation, has provided the officers with a staycation package, including a resort stay, food and beverage credit, and tickets to a headlining show.
