At the NHS-R/Pycom conference in Edgbaston Cricket ground. Got here a bit early but already filling up with my favourite kind of people - Data nerds! 🙂

@N_K_R51 @hewitson10 And yet, somehow here you are, free to say whatever you want. Completely unaware of the difference between freedom of speech and freedom from consequences.
English

@hewitson10 Freedom of speech ...opinions.....are dead in this country...! and lefties have taken over our media, and networks & they the minority taken over the majority..

@harrywe26805243 @RklbsFan @DaleVince @TheSun @BBCr4today So your personal anecdotal experience doesn't match the conclusions of literally millions of people qualified in the field of climate science. They spend their entire careers collecting and analysing data, but *they're* all wrong because you don't believe it?
English

Did you not read my post?
I've almost certainly lived a Greener life than you will live and set that example for my children. None of whom drove before the age of 30 and, the oldest one still doesn't.
Just because I don't believe in a god or the hyped b.s. doesn't make me bad. I don't believe bin "scientists". I respect Science. The two are not the same.
As for the name calling? Puerile immature behaviour.
English

This headline from @TheSun was a classic (in their style) - basically untrue, I would say dishonest, because they knew it. The 'meeting' was a phone call, and The Sun learned of it along with 6 million @BBCr4today listeners when I answered a question about when I last spoke to @Keir_Starmer.
This was a few weeks ago now, we've been going through the independent (as in voluntary) regulator process, and it's just concluded - The Sun has accepted their 'mistake' and corrected the headline online.
It's after the event, though, and they do things like this to create an impression in people's minds which sticks. Retractions and corrections after the event aren't actually good enough to undo the intentional harm. Britain's media is owned mainly by right wing, tax exiled, often foreign billionaires. They have an agenda for our country and skew our national conversation and democracy. We should not allow it.

English

@stephen1e4 @harrywe26805243 @KateFantom @DaleVince @TheSun @BBCr4today Was a 49 year old copy of the Radio Times the gold standard for climate research of the time?
Science is iterative. Conclusions evolve & certainty increases with additional evidence. Denying reality because someone said something different 50 years ago sounds more like religion.

@Moz550 @Herring1967 Any chance of a second night in Bristol, based on my lack of organisation skills? Looks like there are only four individual seats left.
PS. Congrats, Looks like there are only four individual seats left 😀

Weird new scam thing where people comment on facebook and twitter claiming they have (usually) 3 tickets for sale for a gig, not realising that my shows rarely sell out. Had some fun replying to an influx of them omn facebook for the Newcastle gig facebook.com/richardkherring

@MartinSLewis Plus Barclays everyday saver account, 1.0% interest. Monzo instant access savings, 3.7%. I know there are even better rates elsewhere but I can't be bothered to open *another* account right now.
English

@MartinSLewis I'm still with Barclays but gradually transitioning to Monzo. All the benefits I used to have from my accounts and credit card have either disappeared or had their prices hiked to be unaffordable. With no local branches left, I might as well go with an online only bank anyway.
English

Today's Poll: Do you have a problem with Wimbledon accepting sponsorship from Barclays?
A group of high profile people & stars are asking it to end its new connection with Barclays over the bank's support for fossil fuel projects bbc.co.uk/news/business-… Do u support their call?

@theboybailey69 @jaganaget @suchan104 @afneil @Feargal_Sharkey Compared to the amount required to maintain acceptable service.

UK water companies have managed to rack up combined debts of an eye-watering £65 billion. What on earth have they done with all that dosh? Certainly not repair massive water leaks or stop sewage polluting rivers and beaches. Even the absurd dividends they’ve been paying themselves can’t account for it. Perhaps Ofwat could explain, if it wasn’t in their pocket (clear example of what is known as regulatory capture).

Customer service does not *have* to be crap.
My motorised sit/standing desk stopped working after two years. A phone call to @IKEAUK, and within 15 minutes a replacement desk is on the way, with the old one being taken away.
That's why there is a *lot* of Ikea stuff in our house.

Prepping for the staff away day tomorrow. First photo shows what happens when you heat the butter too quickly when making caramel. Fortunately batch number 2 came out much improved!

@CaptSauve @MrNishKumar Everyone in the private sector are in the same position . to give public sector workers an inflation pay rise means taxing everyone to pay for it

Incredible and probably tells you everything you need to know about how bad conditions are for Junior Doctors right now - good on them.
Lewis Goodall@lewis_goodall
NEW: confirmed- junior doctors in England vote to strike by a *98%* yes vote. Turnout of 77.5%.
English

@rickeyst @MrNishKumar I'm pretty sure you know the answer already, but try having a look at the inflation rate in 2019, then comparing it to now.
English

@MrNishKumar The BMA agreed a multi year pay deal in 2019. If it was so bad why did they agree to it
