@jazzanovaboat Because they price based on supply/demand/replacement cost. If the market price went down suddenly would you expect them to sell out at the price bought or discount to market price?

We don’t confirm weekly wages and I’m not sure Marvellous would want everyone to know that, if he simply steps on the pitch, he earns £x

@Capt_Crackers @sman3d @Rolt49 I see your point in that regard. Only issue is that if such a fee was negotiated, I don't see why the club would hide it as no-one would expect him to be selected if that was the case and explained. It has been done by other teams before.

@LutonNews_LTFC @sman3d @Rolt49 I don’t mean Villa, I mean an appearance fee for him in his contract with Luton. I believe it’s common to have a weekly wage, an appearance fee/substitute fee, goal bonus/clean sheet bonus etc in players contracts. Maybe a hefty appearance fee was negotiated.

And still it would be strange for Villa to put one in when selling a midfielder who was almost 30 at the time. Yes Luton haven't been good, but if he's not properly fit, then it's unlikely he'd feature.

I have no idea though other than it’s very strange that he’s not been able to get any league mins given how bang average we’ve been.

@RodMurrell1 We needed 6 more points to stay up in the Prem and 1 more point to stay up last season. What huge resources were required? I’d suggest possibly just 1 additional centre back potentially keeps us in the Prem. I think you’re being very dramatic about what would’ve been required.

@Capt_Crackers You can’t have both. The money required to attempt remain in the PL was not worth any gamble and likewise remaining in the Championship would have used huge resources and left us with huge debt on the Staduim and no way of progressing once it was completed.

@RodMurrell1 You make it sound like it’s one or the other. No, I wouldn’t want us to spend ‘the money’ on the squad and not have a new ground. But we clearly could’ve done more than we have. It wouldn’t have taken much more to stay up in the PL or the Champ last season
